This weeks visit to the flea market helped me stumble upon something interesting. Its a 1984 set of Takara figures. They have lots of pegs and holes for combing them I guess. I figured they might make for a cool custom of some sort. Its the three I have combined on the right.

yeah, the "blockman" were sold under the Robotech name when i found them in the mid 1980s at Big Lots. 5 to a pack with extras to turn the combination into a robot, or a jet or a tank, or combine with other sets and make crazy stuff. Very Micronaut feeling, especially with the 5 mm holes/pegs

Finally remembered the other common name. I think it was "ROBOLINKS"

Yup, Robolinks - that was so confusing as a kid. "I've NEVER seen these on Robotech!"

They were part of the Robotech line. I had a couple when I was little. I could never make the connection to the rest of the Robotech line but they were cool anyway. panelsonpages.com/?p=3065

I think I might use one to learn resin casting on, and make an army of them.

Thanks for that link Rob. I had forgotten about the big huge build sets, like that big robot, and tank. Remembering those sets on the shelves at KayBee, etc.

I think I might use one to learn resin casting on, and make an army of them. I tried that about 2 months back. Due to the amount of holes and the die-cast body, it was a failure, a complete failure. I may try again later, but was very disappointed with the initial attempt.
