Do you guys find yourselves not so into your SOC's when you are super busy with work? I do... I appreciate them the best when I have time to play and admire them. Also, I tend to me more drawn to them during the winter/cooler season. It gets so darn hot in Boston and my studio--where my SOC's are housed--does not have AC. I don't spend as much time in that room when it's super warm. Okay, this might just be and my quirks.
One thing for sure, they are a great distraction when I need to escape.
Another thing, maybe I am also just outgrowing them. I am just not excited about any of the upcoming releases. I never felt like this before in the 10 years that I have started to collect. I've had brief periods when I have lost interest. But never this long. You have heard me complaining for months now...

I definitely know what you are talking about. It's been a while since I've really looked at or enjoyed my SOC collection. It doesn't help that I too have not been interested in any of the new releases. The last new release I bought was way back when GX-44 just came out. I think I've only purchased 1 SOC since then, and that was GX-04S when it took a big price cut. In the meantime I've gravitated toward some of my other interests and collections.
I wouldn't say that we're outgrowing them, and from what I can tell, the "ho-hum" responses to a lot of the new releases seems to be across the board. This has definitely been a long drought of "uneventfullness," for the line, but I know that there are still a lot of robots that would instantly get me, you, and the rest of us back into the fold very quickly.

Well, maybe it is because the upcoming SOC releases are sort of sucking for you as much as they suck for me. However, I can't wait for that new classic Mazinger Z to be released. ;D Or then again, you're just outgrowing this hobby... }D

i'm finding that the SOC line isn't doing it for me . Getting my toy fix from other toy lines . I've skipped over a bunch - either too expensive or mixed reviews or no knowledge of the character.

I'm too scared too bring my SOCs (gokins) to work. But I have some Revoltech's in my office. The overnight cleaning service on occasion has bumped/knocked them over. I find the Black Getter on his side occasionally, and Gaiking's hands are sometimes missing. They are conversation starters.

Hi LeJam. We're the same. My studio is also at home and my SOC's are housed in the same room. But my collection pales in comparison to yours. Like the thesilent, I am also up for adoption. I have started to collect betta fishes (unconsciously, I ventured out of the SOC's because I believe that I am outgrowing them). However, I stopped buying the fishes from breeders after 15. Unlike the SOC's, they are a lot more work!!! I am having these mini fantasies of selling all of my SOC's... Having like $10,000 on the side would be cool but I would have massive regrets. 10 years of history would be wiped away. As I mentioned, my SOC's have always been there for me when I want to escape or relive my childhood. Also, as a guy in the creative field, they have brought me countless amount of inspirations. Thank you SOC's, I will not forsake you (for now

I have a couple of assorted figs at my office, mostly cheaper little desk-fodder toys (a couple of HCM Pro gundams, an NECA teminator, a few godzilla vinyls, etc...). I envy your setup lejam (I'm sure I'm not the only one, either ). It'd be awesome to be able to work at home, although I fear that if I did I would never get anything done...

I manage at a 'serious' insurance company and it wouldn't do to have my Area Director see toys around my small office. However, if you look carefully amongst my shelves, one will notice my classic red Optimus Prime from the iPod speaker release.

I didn't post here at RJ for almost 9 months because of being busy. I just didn't feel like I had the time to be thinking about my collection.

I used to bring my LeReve Mazinger to work on a few occasions, but that's it. Otherwise I'd never bring any of my toys (especially SOCs) to work... I try to keep That side of my life private, and I also don't wanna inspire any would-be thieves at work who might ever think about snatchin my toys-- coz I'll break hands if I catch 'em. Since I only have one SOC (GX-01R) right now, I'm still amused by it since the day I got it. I play with him once in a while so he's not stuck in any position too long. I plan to get the GX-02R sometime as soon as I can afford it, and I also plan to get a few more SOCs, to finish my line there. I just hope I don't lose my "first love" for these specimens as I acquire them later on... then they'd end up as pet rocks catching dust on the shelves. I hope that never happens. @ Lejam: I LUV your shelves; and that studio setup looks really cool, too! zozo-Magengar

And I do see we're somehow colleagues, you working as a freelance graphic designer or something along those lines? Amazing studio. I am working in several domains like , graphic design, motion graphism, Fashion, interior design (I know very different)... and off course, Toy design... Half of my collection is recorded in my accounting... ^__^ So, I am recovering allmost the amount of taxes and CUSTOM FEES ! Now I am trying to "light" my shelves, because of dust and having the GREAT pleasure to have a turn-over with the pieces from my collection (SOC completlist with all changing-shape-models in double or tripple). -> Popping in and out robot from styro box is my religion ! I LUV your shelves; and that studio setup looks really cool, too! Thanks ! With few Ikea shelves and boards, I managed something very cheap and simple. But I will probably build some plastic windows to protect them... My kitchen is far from this room, but I noticed the dust is more "sticky" because of cooking. I need an airing...

Hehehehe As much as I love the toys, the thing that interests me most about Lejam's studio is his Centiq... I'm stuck with a little Bamboo tablet for now. Lejam how do you like the Centiq? Is it nice to work with? Also, is that huge Grimlock on your third shelf the masterpiece?

dunno about work but I found myself buying or looking at them more when I was stressed working full-time and studying. I was practically obsessed with them. Either going online to buy stuff or walking around my displays during study breaks.
Nowadays, a couple of months would go by easily with me not making a single robot/hobby related purchase.
You're right they make for a great escape from "real" life.

If I had a setup like That, I'd NEVER leave the house! ;D (except to tackle the Mailman when he brings me a new toy in the mail. LOL!)
