I'd say a bit more... some of the hull feels like it's diecast. Cold to the touch.

Thanks for posting those pics. Mine just left customs in my city and should be here in a day or two. Looks great!

Which parts exactly are diecast?
From the photos I would guess the grey portion of the hull (excluding the upper part with cannons)?

Quick comparison of BPX-01 and GX-57 Space Battle Ship Yamato Is it just the position of the ships in the pic or is the sop yamato really bigger sizewise than the soc ver?

THey are the EXACT same length. What is different is the elements on the design are smaller on the GX-57. THe overall main jet and fins are smaller, all of the launchers, and lines are smaller. But overall exactly the same size.

xTIMMYxCOREx: So which is the better build quality BP or GX (don't factor the gimmicks of GX though). Didn't you get the bonus Desslok missle? BTW Those YT videos were awesome. Wave Motion gun!

I like the GX better. Seems less fragile also.

I got the bonus Desslok missle! I think the GX-57 feels more solid. Also less small parts to fall off.

What size batteries dose it take? I don't feel like opening the box up again. LOL You need 4 AAA size batteries. 2 for the controller and 2 for the Battleship.

GX-57 arrived and it's definitely an improvement over the BPX-01.
It's got a cleaner sculpt now that most of the gimmicks have been hidden or removed all together.
What's missing from the previous version?
-Most of the hidden hatches or cutaways (Wave Motion Chamber, Engine Room, and Hidden Fighter Storage. -Gimmicks such as the pop out Atmospheric Wings, Flywheel Launch Arm/Spinner, Hanger Bay Red Alert,
What's improved upon?
-Overall it's a much cleaner sculpt with a less gray tone. The triple shock cannons are MUCH larger. All of the dials that rotate them (or the anti-air lasers) are done internally. Finally. All of the sound effects and soundtrack scores are controlled from the infrared remote. It's awesome.
The shocker? The BPX-01 Yamato is a third of an inch shorter YET weighs a little more than the GX-57.

I see. Then it is a good thing. Since they are so different from each other, it is worth keeping both Yamatos (BPX & GX).

Good review. (Is it me or) does the GX-57 look small because you have big hands?!? Can you post a comparative picture of the GX-57 Yamato against the box packaging?
