Got it for 20% off (2-day sale) @ TRU. Great figure @ the price point. Sophisticated transformation. Nice alt mode -- much better than the alt mode for the Voyager version. Not a fan of the bot mode, but even this is nicely done considering the source material. Firing weapon, lights, sounds are ok. Despite the lack of diecast, there is enough plastic to give it some heft which I especially noticed in plane form. Very much worth the low sale price.

I'm not a fan of the Bay TF movie design of Starscream but I must admit I like the Leader class figure from RotF. However, I can't help but feel that TakaraTomy went the super lazy route by offering nothing more than a repainted mainline figure as a "masterpiece" figure, even though it's in its own subline. If TT at the very least retooled the mold design in some significant way, I could afford them some leeway but as it is, Movie Masterpiece Starscream is one of the worst examples of a repaint to me because of its drastic price inflation over the normal RotF Leader class figure. It's not a Lucky Draw figure, it's not an exclusive or limited release figure, it's a repaint being called a Masterpiece.

It's just more expensive for us over here, and to be fair, we aren't the target market for it. It's not supposed to be competing with the regular ROTF Starscream.

Oh, I wasn't aware that MP Movie Starscream was at normal Leader class figure prices in Japan. That does change my perspective on it somewhat, though I still feel that offering the figure as a Masterpiece figure, albeit in a movie MP subline, is a lazy move and a bit disingenuous. To me, Buster Optimus Prime was a better move because in addition to a repaint, that figure was given a new accessory in the form of the transformable fuel tanks/blaster.

I bet whatever version of Prime for TF3 comes out, will end up being the MP version considering how much the figure evolves with each rendition.

If Hasbro/TakaraTomy continue to improve toy design at the same rate that the Leader class OP from TF '07 to RotF Leader class OP demonstrated, I wouldn't object. RotF Leader class OP is in some ways a MP-esque toy with respect to its engineering as far as I'm concerned.

If you don't mind getting the Hasbro version it's only $30 at Walmart.com right now. Hmm $100 or $30... Emerje For $100, they better add die-cast in it. Not just the screws.
