And why not make them GX-54 and GX-54A? Does Bandai have to give them different numbers?

And why not make them GX-54 and GX-54A? Does Bandai have to give them different numbers? GX-54 and GX-55 are two completely different sets of toys. GX-54: Tobikage and Kurojishi GX-55: Tobikage and Houraiou Tobikage is a different mold from the previous release: Larger, more stylized, and more poseable. It's a 100% different figure set. GX-56: Zerokage and Bakuryu

Do GX 54, 55 and 56 combine as one robot?

The Tobikage included with GX-54 can be transformed to fit inside both GX-55 and GX-56 as a "core block" type robot. The three releases do not actually combine with each other or anything though, no. They're all independent transforming robots.

Thanks Dead-Man. If GX 54 to 56 are from the same show can combine together in the animation, why can't the SOC release do the same?

... they can't. It's exactly as I said earlier. Tobikage (the small robot from GX-54) can combine with the three larger bots, but the three large bots themselves don't combine, either in animation or toy form.

Thanks for answering my questions quinjester. I am just not familiar with this series at all.

They're all independent transforming robots. Is the smaller figure in 55/56 interchangeable also? Or is it just the smaller figure in 54? Is there any other gimmick to these 3 sets other than the above? I do have GX-54 & 55 already but I haven't had time to open them yet.

The smaller figure (56) is Zerokage and is an enemy robot, so technically, no it doesn't combine with the animal robots. But maybe you can somehow jam it into the bird?
