Hello! Months ago, I got my Revoltech Mazinkaiser 016. I admit it's one nice action figure with impressive details. I know it's common in Revoltech products that the joints could be loose at some parts. However, I dealt with this problem by putting a little piece o' paper between the parts that need to be fixed. I am only annoyed with 2 things now: - 1) Is it common that the gray areas get a sticky dusty layer by time? I clean it with water but sometimes it seems just too sticky! 2) It has one thigh shorter than the other! Actually, it was new when I bought it but it was assembled in a funny way! The abdomen was in the back's place and the legs seemed to be replaced with each other, etc... ;D Probably, Frankenstein assembled it! So, now, I am thinking about shortening the height of one of the thighs a little, so they become equal in length. Any advice on how to do this safely without I scr*w it up? Shall I use a cutter or sand it Also is it OK if I get the holes to be deeper a lil' bit? Thank you!

Oh man, THAT is Scary, as in Scare-f*kn-Reee! ;D Now that you spotted that flaw with the thighs I'm gonna dig my revo Mazinkaiser outta storage and eXAMINe him to make sure I don't have the same problem as well.
I honestly can't tell you how to modify it, without having done it myself hands-On, therefore I Don't wanna mislead you down that road. Once you trim away plastic parts, you Can't get them back. I think your best bet would be to have someone here make you a repro copy of either thigh (whichever one you think would look good scale-wise in proportion to the rest of the figure). A repro copy, meaning a resin-casted copy of the thigh with the revoltech joint holes drilled for the Joints attachment to match the assembly between the Top of the thigh and the torso socket, and the Bottom of the thigh and the knee socket. This way you'll still have the original thigh to keep safely while replacing it with the repro copy thigh to match the other side (the Opposite thigh).
This may seem confusing: for whichever thigh you chose, the repro copy thing must be the Opposite of it. If you chose the Left thigh, then the repro copy thigh must become the Right thigh so that they match in equal height. The reason for this is because those thighs are contoured opposite one another-- in other words, their curves run in the opposite directions... look at them straight on and you'll see what I mean, their panel-lines should also show you the clue as to which thigh is Left and which thigh is Right.
Once that is done, you'll notice you might have to paint the repro-copy thigh to match the white color of the original opposite thigh. Because white resin plastic is much brighter than the original ABS plastic of that Mazinkaiser thigh.
I hope this helps. With this in mind, we ask any of you seasoned veteran repro makers out there to chime in some advice. Your help is appreciated.

Stickiness is a side effect of the stuff they use to soften the PVC ("plasticizer"). When they made the part they probably used to much and it has now worked its way back to the surface. Eventually it should harden again, but it might take a while.
Looking at the picture I can tell the right leg isn't seated all the way in to the hip joint. Either it was molded funny or the peg hole isn't deep enough (not an entirely uncommon problem). If you can't push it in any further than try finding a drill bit that matches the hole and see if you can make it a little deeper. That "should" fix your problem.

Not a bad idea...but cuz the Van Dammage wars* I am through now, I guess don't have time for getting a repo made *I don't wanna go off-topic, but to explain: it's a war between the JC Van Damme fans and the pretender-to-be JC Van Damme fans ;D Yeah, the dude's still kickin'@$$!Thanx for sharing your opinion, bro

It was the thingy I just drilled a lil' bit deeper in the upper hole of the thigh and now TADA! He finally stands 90° I also would like to advice the members to be very careful with the hands' pins! One of his was torn inside the arm, and I was really pulling it off so gently then I had to re-fix it with superglue. It's OK now...but just be careful! Thanx so much for the advices, guys

Wow! So the problem was the Hole after all! Man, good thing help arrived in time... making a repro would've cost you Mucho Dinero. Good move using a small drill-bit to make the hole deeper. Did you use a Dremel tool, or did you spin the drill-bit by hand? The reason I ask is because sometimes a Dremel tool will spin the drill-bit too fast, causing Heat friction which then melts and burns the plastic... So, spinning the drill-bit by hand-- although time-consumingly Tedious-- is the safest way to go. @ Emerje: Bro, Thanks Eternal for your help and advice. You arrived in the nick of time and now D7 is a Happy Camper! zozo-Magengar

I forgot to add......... I luv the pics... I really like how you photograph the special effects in there, and I dig how you have Mazinkaiser "surfing" his Scrander. Great job there, bro! zozo-Magengar

Making a repro here in Egypt could end with you killing someone, magengar It's not easy to explain but... I can just say, "it's a different world and different mentality." I am ashamed to say it, but it's like "if he has a talent or a hobby, let's kill it." Oh, and I just manually drill it just by pushin' in carefully Thanks so much for the comments 'bout the photos! I will try to upload the rest I have. emerje, you are an inspiration, mate! Thank you.

I don't understand..... lemme see... Ok, so, for example: A businessman opens a shop making toy poodles. He sells them and is making a living making and selling toy poodles. That business helps him support his livelyhood.......
.....I'm a customer. I buy a toy poodle. I take it home, disassemble it, and make Repros of the parts and start sellingt the repro parts. I end up competing against the businessman, he loses customers, and loses his livelyhood. Is that what the expression "If he has talent, let's kill it" means? zozo-Magengar Making a repro here in Egypt could end with you killing someone, magengar It's not easy to explain but...
