Interesting, but I'll take what he says with a grain of salt. If a man lies before, he could lie again. Whether or not he is a liar is beside the point: he admits he was in over his head with the company and as far as I'm concerned, got what he deserved if he couldn't handle managing a business.
What's particularly sad is to learn that he detailed other peoples' layouts and vice-versa. Doesn't that imply that anybody else could ape his mecha style (which IMHO was the only thing his art had going for him; his human characters were terrible).

Hehehe... he couldn't (wouldn't ?) answer some of the more sensitive question about the allegations of him transferring fund out of DW to DE prior DW going belly-up.
Quite a similar story with Liefeld isn't it?

It's an old story, got to big to fast and spent money like drunken sailors. They had a huge hit with the Transformers franchise and helped bring it back, I still think the Dreamwave Transformers ongoing series with Don F. drawing it is still the best version of G1 in comics so far. They should just have expanded slowly, branched out with the Transformers and then add new titles and SAVE MONEY. What a shame.

I was surprised to hear Lee was talking again, especially that he was the one that asked for the interview. I just happened to run across snippets of the interview in the TFWiki, not realizing at first that it took place this month. Lots of non-answers, but I really wouldn't have expected more.
Yeah, I actually did like his designs, it was certainly a new dimension for the Transformers and no matter how much people try to deny it, it's still being imitated today by a lot of TF artists (just better proportioned). I thought the books they made were pretty good and there's still quite the following for things like The War Within, not to mention fully integrating Transformers into vehicles from G.I.Joe. Unfortunately they left many stories unfinished which is a horrible things to do to your fans.

I think Lee is only talking because he has other projects that he wants to promote. And the only way he'll be able to promote if he starts talking.

What surprised me was that he was accused of having another artist do layouts for him with zero credit. I know it was common at Dreamwave to have an artist just do backgrounds to free up time but at least they were credited. It seems to me Lee stretched himself thin with to many projects, found himself in a bind and took the cheap way out instead of telling the publisher he couldn't handle it. It's still a shame, Dreamwave was one of the few Canadian based studios that had some real power in the industry.
