In brief english, just What Is She and Why the sensation about her? I aint knockin her... I just took a look at her and she looks like an ordinary girl dressed as a maid, with big googley eyes and such.
I'll look up her wiki as well.

I've already got a bunch of the Koto models, which are good enough for me. I don't really feel the need for any diecast heft for this subject matter. On the surface it does look lame. If it was just Hoihoisan herself, I'd've written it off as Moeblob excess. BUUUUUUT....the episode & video game clips on Youtube are hella-hella cool ;D & the inclusion of some serious FIREPOWER in some of the models completely sold me. It's an amusing concept: 1/1 scale replicas of Moeblob robots that kill household bugs (& each other on occasion). Watch this on full screen!:This is the model that pretty much sold me on the idea. Little Moeblob toddler with a machine gun bigger than her. It's cute and absolutely batsh*t insane at the same time: www.1999.co.jp/eng/10104897This one's pretty killer: www.1999.co.jp/eng/10118407It combines with this: www.1999.co.jp/eng/10110252So far I've got all the models except the Tactical Suit version of Combat-san. Kinda boring. I don't usually go in for that kind of character but the killer weaponry juxtaposed with the cuteness struck just the right chord in me. A zaney, batsh*t crazy chord to be sure. The manga is a pretty good read, too: manga.animea.net/ichigeki-sacchu-hoihoi-san.htmlI realize that I'm not really pimping the CHOGOKIN of Hoi Hoi San all that much. IMHO a chogokin of her feels somehow unnecessary, but the concept of Hoi hoi San is at least an amusing one, so that in itself might be enough for some of you out there to go DIECAST with her, instead of the plamo route like I have. It might actually turn out to be pretty good.

it isn't a new concept really. Popy churned chogokins of characters that did not seem to warrant such treatment back in the 70's. Consider the Gorangers (Star Rangers) and other sentai characters made into chogokins.

I just took a look at her and she looks like an ordinary girl dressed as a maid, with big googley eyes and such. I'll look up her wiki as well. zozo-Magengar I think the attraction for me is cuddly mixed with deadly. But the OVA definitely made me a fan. It's got pretty good production values and some nice action scenes. The concept is also quite interesting. Imagine being able to go into your local store and pick up a mini robot-maid that kills bugs for you. That'd be pretty cool I think! LOL! Just to piggy-back onto what Mechashiva and Mechapunk were saying, The character has been around for some time now. Big HoiHoi-san fan as well here. Been one for a while. I actually do own the Feb. 2003 Dengeki Daioh that the HoiHoi-san manga series premiered in. Apparently the manga was popular enough to spawn the PS2 game and the OVA. Also has a VERY limited edition action figure by none other than Masaki (f-face) APSY. A little info. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ichigeki_Sacchu!!_HoiHoi-san I happened upon the OVA by accident years ago and loved it. Then I RE-discovered that I'd owned the manga magazine that the story was in and was quite shocked. The kits do seem pretty awesome. I'm sad that I've still not picked up any of the Koto kits. I might have to just plunk down and pick up this chogokin! Definitely not for everybody, but I like the irony with this character. Cute/combat maid. Just wacky enough to throw people off!

Hoi-hoi-san is one of those lost ideas that Japan doesn't seem to know what to do with. They know there's a marketing block buster in there somewhere. It could be a hit... but it's just not.
I found the 10-minute OVA on Youtube as well and loved it. But when I went off looking for more stuff, I couldn't find anything except footage of her video games (which look like one of those horrible budget-titles you find at the walmart bargain bin). Bleah.
The chogokin is cute but like a lot of you, I already built the 1/1 scale kit a while ago. I guess the only upside with have a chogokin figure would be its sturdiness. The only down side of the plastic kits are that they're pretty fragile. Joints are sometimes just a tad too tight and the accessories fly off in my hands while posing them. This is especially true of PestX-san who is supposed to carry a variety of knives and has that billowing coat. Still, I haven't picked up her motorcycle yet...
I notice that Amiami is offering a limited set of optional facial-expressions as a promo item for the first-run on this chogokin... the "yummy" tongue-face makes me chuckle. I haven't read the manga but I will check out that link (thanks MechaShiva!)...

Coolness! Let us know when it gets here. Looking forward to checking it out. EDIT* Review is up rocketpuncharmy.blogspot.com/2011/06/chogokin-hoihoi-san-review.htmlI took a picture and a quick video of the unboxing. It's OK but its nothing super spectacular unless you like girly cutesy figures. Its well made and has lots of accessories like machine guns and swords. Hard to tell where the diecast is because its so hot in my room, but the heft is there. in this pic she is missing her antenna and alfalfa hair piece. this is how she comes right out of the package. More pics and unboxing video on my blog later tonight. Not sure if I will do a full review on it though.

That's awesome! Great review, sir. I know some folks might balk at the lack of die-cast content, but it's never really been a source of concern with me. As long as it's there in spirit, which it sounds like it is. I really wish I would have gotten in on the preorder deal to get the extra facial expressions though. That LED base is a really nice touch too! Unfortunately the price of this thing is really hindering me from making the move to purchase. It's like a weeks worth of groceries. Having said that I would prolly just spend the money on other junk anyways! Ha ha! Anyways thanks so much for sharing this, dude!
