... interesting. Diecast and pilots, huh?
Sold on mattycollector, though. Dealing with that is always a MESS. And you know people are going to get screwed somehow out of the one lion they need to build the full thing...

Also from the article that Gold posted: "They also mentioned that the classic Voltron toys will only be on Matty Collector at first, but once the new series toys hit retail for a little bit, they plan to start mixing the two at retail." So no need to deal with Mattycollector just yet. Unless they will roll out a totally different version from the retail one, then we're screwed

I'm skeptical about this so 3 feet tall diecast voltron for $150 (@$30 per lion), that's the initial price of a punty 12" MP toynami voltron. It just doesn't add up, mattel sell its DCU figures for about $20 each and they're 6.5 inches worth of plastic & paint then there's the modern "jumbo" (which is not 3 feet and do not transform with no diecast) selling for $350. So they're saying that for an extra $10 they're going to throw in some diecast components and more plastic & paint to give us a 3 ft tall voltron.
Then there's the thought that if this is coming down the pipes in 6 months where are the prototypes we usually see in the Toy shows or conventions?
I think its just empty talk.....but who knows.

Tha pretty much what I heard at toy fair but no prices were spoken of, nor materials used.
I wonder what the sdcc exclusive will be. I think is a poseable voltron figure but who knows its all just speculation.

In my case, I am "Lioned out" already. Yes, ANOTHER Lion Voltron would be nice, and I will most likely buy it, but a Vehicle Voltron/Dairugger XV Master Piece figure would be so much sweeter...

Totally Agree TMZ, I don't understand why Dairugger hasn't gotten the Toynami MP or even SOC treatment yet. I would love to see one especially the transformation part! Then maybe (just maybe) in the not too distant future an Albegas (Voltron II) with an improved Combination System... ~B

I remember getting a cheap plastic version of Dairugger (no idea what they name on the package) at Zayre when I was a kid (circa '84-85)

Yeah I'm waiting for Dairugger too but until it's popularity on either continent increases I don't think we'll see one soon. Although I did read rumors of a company making a new diecast version but I haven't heard of anything since so I'm guessing it got scrapped. Also a 2-3' tall Voltron would be super impressive, I just hope the connecting points are super secure and at that height I doubt a lot of articulation will be included. Still I'll reserve judgement till we actually see some prototypes, but 2-3' tall? That's even larger than Fortress Maxmus.

Dairugger XV may not be very popular, but they just made a huge, > $200 figure of it. I just want a Toynami Master Piece, Yamato GN-U, or large SOC rendition of it, that's all...

That's probably because I think Toynami is losing the rights to Voltron so they went out with a bang and try to kick start their "Jumbo" line with a couple limited pieces plus they already said they wouldn't make a Masterpiece Vehicle Voltron because they don't think it would be popular enough. Which I understand, they have trouble making single high quality figures imagine a figure made up of 15 individual pieces. My hope is for a SOC version which I'm sure will happen sooner or later.

Bandai may be waiting for teh new TV show too, I am sure it will work in reverse, new content in the US will get over to Japan and drive interest in a SOC Voltron 1 & 3.

I think they went a bit overkill personally. I'm confortable with my GB-36 Die Cast Voltron. Nice idea, glad they made a super-limited edition.

thats a tough one to beat. I've always wanted a taiwan knockoff of golion. And the Master piece Voltron didn't do it for me. It was anime acurate which usually has me jumping off my chair. But the lacking of all the extra weapons and shooting missiles and hidden panels just bugs me so much!

I hope Bandai does both Voltron figures (Lion and Vehicle), i wouldn't even mind if they did it for the SOC or SRC line.

Beggars can't be choosers and I would be glad if released on either line, but if I was given a choice, I would like to see Dairugger as an SOC combiner rather than a non-combining SRC. And the same applies to Golion...

Pics are up from the SDCC i.toynewsi.com/g/index.php?mode=album&album=2011_San_Diego_Comic_Con%2FMattel%2FVoltron%2F&dispsize=600&start=0-------------------------------------------------------------- The Voltron collector line has been revealed at SDCC and I can tell you we are now ready to officially form Voltron! Here's the big news: For 2012, the Mattel Voltron line includes five Lions (black, green, yellow, blue, red) that form robot Voltron plus five Pilots in 3 ¾" scale (Pidge, Hunk, Lance, Allura, Keith). Staying true to the series, each release consists of a Lion and its corresponding pilot, so Keith pilots only the Black lion, Hunk pilots only the Yellow lion, etc. Collect all five Lions and you'll have everything you need to build an enormous 23" tall Voltron figure! Each Lion converts from Voltron mode to Lion mode with a one-touch transformation feature, and comes with a mouth blade weapon. The Black Lion also comes with an additional blazing sword and shield. Collect all the Pilots and each one will come with a piece that creates a Voltron Collect and Connect® ultra blazing sword! Every pilot comes with an alternate helmet head, and a key that unlocks the cockpit of their corresponding Lion and allows it to transform with one touch from Voltron mode to Lion mode. The key can also be used as a display base for the pilot figure. There's also an exclusive item available only to members of the Voltron subscription, Club Lion Force, but I can't tell you what it is until the Mattypalooza panel on Friday at SDCC. Want all the Lions, the Pilots, the 23" Voltron, the Collect and Connect ultra blazing sword and the club-exclusive? Then read on for new details on Club Lion Force! ------------------------------------------------------------- From what I understand, it seems the figures will be sold seperately from the lions? I'm really curious to see if the lions will indeed have diecast parts as previously mentioned. I also changed the title of the thread Gold

It looks ok but I have to admit that the New Voltron looks better in toy form, the 23" Classic Voltron really doesn't seem any improved from previous Voltron except for opening up to fit the pilots in it. I hate to say it but the New Voltron may be a must buy for me while the Classic one is a option if I see it somewhere and do some impulse buying but I'm not a big fan of all the white on it.
