I've been looking at people's Voltron tattoos.. but I think it's a little extreme. I'm posting an example of one person's. Does anyone have a robot/voltron tattoo (or want one).. or is anyone highly against it? Thanks! Attachments:

WOOF!!! Nice leg! ;D
Well, I dunno....... I think if a fan wants to get a tattoo of their favorite robot character, they'd Better make it Count by getting it done by a highly respected tattoo artist. That voltron tat there looks nice, but it could be better. Also, it's kinda difficult to spot it and ID it with all that dental floss in the way; ya almost gotta brush it to see voltron beneath the fur. ;D
I'd like a Mazinger tat, either Mazinger-Z or a brutal looking Mazinkaiser, on my back... anime style combined with neu-metal tribal marks.
Many folks like to get inked on their legs, arms, and/or backs; so I guess it's just a matter of personal taste. I'd like to get inked on my back; but then my back isn't always showing year-round. My biceps and forearms are nice places to display ink, but I don't wanna look like a human Sunday Funnies.
;D

I believe the Coolest thing in general about having a tat of your favorite robot character on your body is that it would bring mainstream attention to this hobby. Anyone with, say, a ZZ-Gundam tattoo may perhaps be familiar with webgroups such as Robot-Japan. How many people in your cities have anime robots inked on their bodies? zozo-Magengar

I definitely agree, the tat could have been done MUCH better. I put up a post with a few others: voltrons.com/voltrons-fans-authentic-tattoos/(if you have Picasa installed on your computer, its got a sick picture browser) I'm probably going to stick w/ toys.. once these are on you, they're there forever (unless you want to pay a bunch of money to remove them)

In most cases, it's not always the tattoo artist at fault for a weak tattoo image. More often it's the person getting the tat who draws a pic and doesn't have his or her drawing skills well-dedveloped. Or, that person would pay someone Else to draw the artwork and take the drawing to the shop so the inkman can copy it via blue or black grease pen onto the skin; and that hired artist sucks. Could be many possibilities. What you or someone else puts on paper is what will become the final product on flesh. zozo-magengar I definitely agree, the tat could have been done MUCH better. As much as I love giant robots and animation, I'm not really warm to idea of permanently inking a cartoon character on my body. A reticence that's not limited to animation. I prefer more subtle tattoos, in general. For example, I'd rather get an ink of something that reminds me of someone dear to me than a portrait of that person.
I'll get a tattoo someday. I've been thinking about it for years and I'm pretty much fixed on what it will be : a red moon. A subtle nod to my super robot obsession.

I have a lot of Chogokin on my legs.. like 6 I think now? That said... make sure...
1) Get great artwork. either find some online, draw it yourself, or have someone who is an artist do it for you. Mine are either done by sizzlak from here, original TV art cells, or redrawn by my tattoo artist who also grew up watching Force Five.
2) Find a tattoo artist who knows the material, loves the material, and can do great tattoos. Try to find similar work in his portfolio. Make sure he knows the characters. When I brought the idea to my guy, he was like, NICE< the guys from Force Five, this is going to be awesome. He was excited, his enthusiasm shows in the final piece.
3) Think about placement. Have someone who knows how to lay out a nice looking page decide where it should go. You can't just throw it anywhere, you will hate that in 5 years.
4) Make sure your skin takes color well. I am pale. I never tan Colors pop on my skin.
That said, search tattoo on here and you will see tons of my posts and ink. Always getting more too. And if you want to go to Boston MA for your tattoo I can recommend a great shop.

Oh and that Voltron you posted is definitely NOT a good image for a one off tattoo.. In a sleeve it might look better. But for a one off robot, think big bold colors. Thick recognizable line art. I would use the line art that Super 7 used for their Voltron T-shirt.
And yes it does promote the hobby, though most people just ask to see the Transformer on my leg. I get asked for photos all the time at Disneyland. and i have struck up some awesome conversations over the years thanks to a giant Gaiking on my leg. Once it even got my to skip the lines at the airport when the Jetblue rep saw Gaiking, wanted a photo and told me how it was his favorite show growing up in Puerto Rico.
I found out about Frank & Sons Collectable show when a Disney CM saw my tattoo and we chatted for half an hour. He told me about all the toy shops in Southern Cali that morning. It was awesome.

Timmy you said it Best. I have to agree, those tats you have sure do incite great conversations, especially if the other person is able to recognize and ID the robot character right off the bat, and they'll just keep yapping for Hours on end! ;D That Gaiking on your leg looks wicked Awesome, and your flesh tone is perfect for those bold colors, too! If I were a stranger in your town and saw you in the summer, that Gaiking would be the first thing I'd notice instantly. zozo-Magengar
