I'm surprised that there still hasn't been a comparison between the two not-Devastators yet.

Anybody got the completed set yet? I would love to see some comparison pics to SOC's and other Transformers and stuff. I can't wait to see how Computron turns out, I'm liking the Maketoy design ethic better then the TFC stuff which seems more "robust" and bulky looking compared to the intricate look of the Maketoy stuff.

Set 3 is not out yet, Chen. It was scheduled for May, but due to Maketoys having to manufacture replacement parts for the Set 2 to be included in the upcoming set 3, the final set is delayed indefinitely.
Expect June or late June release date for Set 3.

The replacement is for the dumptruck grill and head connection of the combined head on the crane. Apparently, there are improperly set joints on the grill that will cause breakage if the grill is folded during the transformation. There has been quite a lot of report about the broken grill during transformation, and Maketoys is replacing the whole grill assembly. As for the combined head, it seems that if it is transformed while not following a very strict order of steps, it is very prone to breakage, although there are very few reports about this situation. I believe Maketoys is also supplying a new set of head and neck to fix this situation. Detailed discussion about the Maketoys Giant can be found here (over 400 pages long): www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-3rd-party-discussion/487974-maketoys-giant.htmlI would start reading from the last page if you want to get the latest information.

Got my 3rd set today. Yeeeeaaah ! This one is a lovely masterpiece to my collection. (I got my spare part from Upgrade commander to replace the broken one) This Devy is a good scale to match with the FP Crossfire Sets.
The only little bad point is about the barel mixer : it's a grey plastic painted in a yellow a little bit more orange than the yellow injection plastic... Too bad... But it's okay, it's just minor.
I really like the TFC version, but for those who can't buy both, buying the (green set) Maketoys version is more a "contemporary" Devy, with a perfect G1 touch.

Lejam, I know you have the TFC Hercules as well. Which one do you like better?

I like both. They give me different feelings : - TFC combine mode is massive and bulky. We have here a terrible Devastator who can crush everything. Each bots are well design but a little bit squarish. IMO, alt modes are a little bit futuristic : shapes are far from 20st century (far from a G1 Devastator) But it's okay, it's a design choice from TFC. Adding tab everywhere on shapes is really cool : A lot of possibilities to swap parts... This is a toy, enough strong for a kid who want to play with it (with a dad standing behind and crying each time Hercules is crashing a G1 joe vehicule with it's body).
- Maketoys Giant is much a collector piece : as I said before, it's perfect for those who allready have the 2 Fansproject Crossfire sets. Design of mechas is respectfull of Transformers spirit, very dynamic : the attitude is strong, sharp... Alt modes are very compact : MT brings us smart transformations with ingenious mechanisms for vehicules very contemporary (G1 feeling on top). ... So I like both versions : MT Giant is "comfortable", giving a true Transformers feeling, a great reboot of G1 Devastator. TFC Hercules is more impressive : because of size and dimensions of each of its members (bulky !). It looks less "fragile" (and it is) and match perfectly for this terrible TF character. For sure, the MT G1-green set will help to compare bothe figures.

Ah. Thanks for your opinion. So basically both are very good products, and nothing can go wrong if a fan choose to buy either one of these two, or even both.

Compared to TFC Hercules, anything will look tiny ;D I notice that the Maketoys Set 2 is sold out in Upgrade Commander, so I had to make my order for Set 3 today. Hopefully it will show up within one week .
