It's funny, it's been a long year but while I spent plenty on-line, this year very little of it was for toys in the traditional sense. The only new ones I got were the TFC Hercules figures. I did get the Fansproject Protector kit and I made sure to find a Rodimus figure for a reasonable price on eBay (here's a hint - look for loose figures - always cheaper).
For non-toy goodies, my last few HLJ orders included a soy-sauce bottle shaped like an R2 unit, lightsaber chopsticks, an SMS crew shirt from Macross Frontier, even a dakimakura cover... *ahem* let's not talk about that. But the robot figures I did get were older ones on sale like the Legioss Tread I mentioned in another post and the Tekkaman Blade SOC Spec. Neither of which I seriously consider toy of any year (I mean, they are nice, but not really contenders that jump out at me).
You know what I really want to vote for? The Star Wars Clone Wars "Republic Attack Shuttle." I don't have one of these but I saw it on store-shelves and it looks freaking awesome. It is not only a vehicle for your clone army but it opens up into a battle-station playset with tonnes of gimmicks (just like most other recent play-set-vehicles). And most importantly: it comes with a pilot figure (in a market where for some reason, Hasbro doesn't seem to bundle figures with their vehicles often enough). Just wish this had come out a year before when I was REALLY into collecting my clone-army. Nowadays, I kind of have to be careful of how much room my toys are taking up.

I know that as far as classic Super Robots we had Bandai's SOC Daltanious & Godsigma, as well as CM's Kotetsu Jeeg, but I would have to go with the SRC Dai Guard. An inexpensive, loaded with accessories, simple but rare super robot figure that scores of people had been waiting for for years. }D

It was an easy choice for me this year...
Yamato Shield Liger -Huge, HEAVY metal, highly articulated, piece of butt kicking gohkin. And for it's size it was cheap!

I've converted over to the MOTUC side of the force, but there have been some VERY impressive Transformers this year (robots) like Sky Shadow. Not in order: 1/100 GB Gundam AGE-1 Normal Figure MOTUC Man-E-Faces TF Classics Sky Shadow Thundercats Classics 8" Lion-O

That is definitely a highlight of the year, really loving my Hot Toys Superman too, but its mostly due to it looking really cool as opposed to being a great overall toy. Godsigma and Daltanoius were very cool...I'm just not good at picking best overall. I like way too many things this year.

As a big combiner fan, I am torn between Godsigma & Daltanious.

Weren't that many new toys for me this year, I'd say for me its SOC Daltanious.
It would've been a tie between Godsigma and Daltanious but I just found Dalt easier to handle could just be my personal preference

SOC Daltanious has to be one of the best offerings this year.......but just for the sheer shelf presence and if you're lucky enough to have a pair of good wings I'd go for Fewture's Shin getter

Man, I can't even comment much... out of the not many toys I bought in 2011, the only thing that I have taken out of its box is the Robot Spirits Gouf Custom I got last weekend... But I suppose the SOC God Sigma or the SRC Alteisen / Weissritter deserve to be one of the candidates

1. Metal Build 00 Gundam 7 Sword + 00 Raiser add on Simply one of the best Gundam Chogokins, kinda a over size Robot Damashii, easy to pose without many parts popping off, really nice quality paint job and detailing and solid metal inner frame and joints. The add ons gives this one the GN sword 3 and also reverts him back to the animated form. The 00 7Sword version was a comic only thing if I remember correctly.
2. SRC Gaogaigar + Keys to victory pack Even as a Stand alone without the Add on pack, this one has lots of accessories. You can do all of the trademark moves and it looks good doing it. Does have a tendency of parts popping off and loose thighs, mines even have some other QC issues, but it still holds high for me this year.
3. MP Rodimus. I got the Hasbro version and it is $50 well spent. Comes with a Targetmaster and a big matrix in case you don't have a MP Prime.
4. D- Arts Megaman X. 2011 was good for us Megaman fans. We were given a couple of great kits from Koto and the D-Arts line of Megaman toys figures has the best sculpt/articuation out of any Megman toys I am aware of.
5. And finishing off at 5, my choice is the Fansproject Insecticon trio Thundershed, Stormbomb and Backfiery, better known by their real Transformers names of Shrapnel, Bombshell and Kickback. These are really good modern day representations of the insecticons, redesign to have robot forms of ninja assassins while retaining the looks of the G1 counterpart. The bug forms aren't as functional as we like them to be, they are still well design and the Transformation, while not fun, due to the complexity, it just shows how well engineered these are.
Honorable mentions, the SRC Daiguard, lots of accessories and good heft of diecast, those alone isn't strong enough for me to place it into my top five. Likewise the SRC Weisswritter, the Composite Cybaster and Exbein. The TFC version of Devastator, this one would probably on my list for next year as we are still two figure short of completing the combine mode and the combine mode is the only part of the TFC Devastator project that I like. The individual bots and alt modes for the bots are too weak in design, and in terms of quality, IMO, TFC is still way behind compared to Fansproject.

IMO, the Super Robot Chogokin Dai Guard took the cake for 2011. An affordable, perfectly executed high quality rendition of a quasi-unknown mecha whose story is awesomely different from the rest! ;D }D
