Well, at least it's an indication that the SOC Spec line is not dead (yet).
Good to know that it's an entirely new mold, and not another version of the dragonar. BTW, this is not going to be another one of those tamashii web exclusives, is it?

Hehe, I know what you mean Niko, with the way Bandai's setting things up lately, I'm paranoid myself that most Bandai releases nowdays end up being Web exclusives. Hope this one won't be. Gold

Hi all, it took Bandai about 2.5 years but we finally get Soul Spec Tamashii Exclusive Gillgazamune. Here's a quick look. The big bad mech from Metal Armor Dragonar. There have been three pilots of this machine (Gol Jem, Hydelnecken and Dolchenof). This color variation is from the final battle in the series. Piloted by Dolchenof. Chest missiles Shoulder armor missiles. Errr... crotch missile!!!! Wow... a purple missile. Phallic, yes? Gillgazamune comes with several swords. Two blades, one handle? Cost cutting measure? Scimitar Katana Display base Gillgazamune stands roughly 9.5 inches tall and weighs about 424 Grams Diecast parts include -Primary joints -Elbows -"Crotch missile" mechanism - Feet(?) This thing just towers over all the other Soul Specs. Despite it's size and heavy attack power, the Gillgazamune has two critical weaknesses, one is its strain on the pilot over extended battles. To the point that it kills the pilot himself. The second weakness is a glitch that overloads the tracking computer and renders the unit unable to attack (whenever two enemy units overlap, the AI goes wonky). This was how Dragonar 1 was able to beat the machine twice (Hydelnecken and Dolchenof) Overall, I like it. We only have a handful of "Bad guys" in Chogokin form and this is one of those rare ones that look good and is exceptionally tall. The design is great, the figure is super posey and has a good amount of weight to it. The price is on the heavy side though. My only real problem is that my unit arrived without the mailer box (it's a Tamashii Exclusive, so it should have one) Plus the main box has had better days. Does anyone know if this toy actually does have a mailer box if it's shipped straight from Bandai? Gold

Great review Gold, I didn't know you did reviews of the Soul Spec series I don't know if you watched Metal Armor Dragonar, could you tell me if this is in scale with other Dragonar releases from the line?

Thanks Mechanical Flesh. Hehe, yes, I did a few reviews for the Spec line (just not the EVAs. Already happy with the SOCs) Here's the link to other sites where I compile images and reviews (Contains robots and other toys. Warning, ridiculously pic heavy!~) ptkforums.fr.yuku.com/topic/1709/Golds-Collection-Update-Complete?page=9And ptkforums.fr.yuku.com/topic/1709/Golds-Collection-Update-Complete?page=9The second link is just a mirror back up and loads a bit faster but the site auto resizes the images. Yes, this big guy is in scale with the Dragonars. He's really that big in the show. I didn't do a video clip of him in action since this variation mostly fought Falguen in the final battle with the Dragonar 1 showing up near the end to lend a hand dealing the finishing blow. Gold

Oh my gosh I want this. Are there other new SPECs after this one? I wish there are more SPECS and that they are not limited. I love the SPEC line.

This was released around April 2014? I think what followed is the Spec Layzner MKII. To be followed by the Spec Layzner MK 1 special coating version. I think that's about it?

Gold, to answer your question (posted at the end of your review). Yes, this figure did come with the outer mail box.
Also, the Tamashii SPEC - Black Serena -FIERCE BATTLE version was released back in June 2014, then followed by Layzner Mk II. And yes, the special coated Layzner Mk I will be released Jan/Feb 2015.

No indication of contents. Gold

It is pretty awesome looking, and you can see the differences when you put the Serenas side by side. Here are the links: tamashii.jp/item/10574/p-bandai.jp/tamashiiwebshouten/item-1000085750/

Why? Because they are Tamashii Web Shop Exclusives, so unlike retail releases these figures are made based of the number of orders received. Sure some figures might be re-released but they will have subtle differences that will qualify them as new releases like in the case of Black Sarena and Layzner Mk I.

The SPEC line does not sell as well, right? Obviously or else the releases would be more consistent and not so "limited". Too bad because in some ways, I am more excited about the more modern looking SPEC robots than the old school SOC ones (GX-68 SOC GAOGAIGAR is an exception, this one should be awesome!).

I'm thinking Bandai wasn't getting any solid properties going for this line. I mean, all we got were mostly EVAs, Dragonars for this series. I'm surprised they didn't roll out more Martian Successor Nadesico figures, that would've been nice.
