Hello, guys. I bought the SOC#46 Daizengar and Aussenseiter set.
I was generally happy with the set when I was fiddling with it after I took it out of the box. But I encountered a problem. The joint in the Aussenseiter's right arm has glue! So the right arm cannot bend. Look at the picture. I was surprised to see this.
What I am thinking is that what I bought was already damaged and the seller "repaired" it. Have you encountered this problem?
What can I do? I'm thinking that I should dip the joint in hot water to melt the glue. But I don't know if I will damage the figure. Not being able to bend the arm means that I won't be able to transform the Aussenseiter to its horse mode.
Now I am thinking it's my fault for not completely fiddling with the figure when the seller told me to inspect it. Now I am afraid that if I tell him about the problem then he will tell me that I inspected it and agreed to the condition of the figure.
I tried googling the problem but the suggestions frighten me. I don't know if the methods suggested would damage the plastic. Look at the picture, you will see that the glue surrounds the joint. Any suggestions? Thank you guys!

REALLY hot water (like boiling hot) might work if the glue is from a glue-gun, but if it's any type of super glue, hot water won't do anything. And if it's epoxy, then there is nothing you can do. There are a number of super glue debonder solvents that can work, but it's a tricky process when dealing with lots of glue in tight spots, as you will have to go through it in layers by wiping off the old stuff and applying more, possibly dozens of times, as the debonder works its way through. If you do use debonder, I would recommend using a sink sprayer and spraying the part thoroughly between each application of debonder, so that you are completely removing any old debonded glue, otherwise it all gets gummed up and the new debonder will not reach the still bonded glue. Here's a link where you can buy several different types of debonders. I have used the Z7 brand and it's quite powerful, but fairly thick and expensive. Z7 will remove paint. I would try the thinner and cheaper cyanoacrylate removers before trying Z7. www.hobbylinc.com/ca_super_glue_debonder

I should also mention that in my experience with Z7, it will eat softer plastics if it sits for too long. I'm not sure if this would be the case with the other super glue removers.

Myself, if the glue doesn't look to be in deep or thick, I would carefully use a sharp exacto blade to poke and cut through the super glue.
If the glue is deep, then I don't know what to offer more than xiombarg's suggestions.

I think you should first ask the seller about it, and see if he'll come clean, and then find out the extent of the damage, why was it glued in the first place? It might be that without the glue, the whole forearm is detached. Either way, the seller is a douche for not disclosing that, whether or not you got to inspect the toy, hope you didn't pay too much for it.

it sounded like you have purchased this locally. Which means you have no recourse thru paypal or credit card of some sort. Personally I would sell it with the condition stated at a lost. Then purchase a brand new one from a reliable source and bite the differences. There are people who wouldn't mind a second set or for repair parts. Besides there is got to be something wrong with the arm in the first place or else seller wouldn't try to glue it. Which means even if you get to unglue it perfectly you still got a broken arm.

I sent him a message:
Good pm, GTO. May I know the history of the SOC#46 Dygenguar and Aussenseiter set I bought from the Taft branch yesterday? When I fiddled with the Aussenseiter, I noticed that the forearm joint had glue or adhesive in it which prevents the arm from bending. Thus the robot cannot transform into its horse mode. Did I get a repaired stock? I hope you can enlighten me on this matter, Thank you very much.
His response:
this is my own personal collection, its been with me for a very very long time and i dont remember what happened to it, it was displayed at our makati store in the past thanks
The guy owns perhaps the largest toy store chain in our country. So he has multiple branches.

I hope you at least got it for less than what ebay sellers are charging for it…..for all that pain and suffering you are going through. The lowest priced GX-46 sold on ebay for $235USD shipping included.
Its funny not long ago there was a thread on how much GX-46 had depreciated due to lack of interest and how it’s not a comparable trade to a Godannar or a Gurren Lagann but if they’re short on supply in Phil perhaps its just a matter of time they become scarce here in NA

Just my two cents... I would work this out with GreattoysOnline (GTO). I know most of the stores in the Philippines have a No Exchage No Return Policy I have dealt with them before and they have been very reasonable. In fact I was able to negotiate a good price for my CM's Mekanda DX that they had advertised online for a little bit more.

Removing to glue won't help much cos something internal must have been broken hence the sloppy repair job. Most shops would not take return or provide replacement. Try to reason with them, return the item and get a partial refund. Some money back is better than none, unless you intend keep the bot and fix the broken part.
I'm sorry for your case, if it's any consolation, you're not the 1st and definitely not the last, it's something I believe all of us bot collectors have encounter in this expensive hobby, I've been duped too by defective items and less than honest sellers.

It's just really sad that this happened to me. The SOC 46 was the reason I started collecting toys again. And it was the very first SOC I bought (since I started with Revoltechs and SRCs). And it was the most expensive toy I bought and it had to turn out this way. It's so unfortunate that the first time I buy an SOC it becomes a traumatizing experience.

Well, I don't know how you paid for the item or how long ago you purchased it, but if you used a Visa, MasterCard, or American Express you can get your money back if the purchase was made within 45 days (check with your credit card to find out the details). If you used Paypal is about the same. However, if this was a cash or check purchase, then my friend, you are out of luck...
Hopefully you can do something still.

Are you cool with what he seller has offered you as compensation?

That really sucks, I'd pay an extra $25-$50 to have the thing transform properly.
$25 doesn't compensate anything especially on an expensive piece such as this especially since it greatly affects transformation.
But it is what it is......lessons learned I guess....next time go the ebay, Ami Ami, HLJ, even bigbadtoystore route.
The only upside to purchasing locally is the instant gratification and the convinience of being able to resolve issues with the purchase face-to-face, if you're not even getting that convinience and ending up in the same place you would had you purchased on-line then its really futile.
