UGGH why this one in an SRC?? I dont get Bandai, this was one of their poorest selling SOCs and they do it in an SRC?? They could have made us happy with at least Grendizer! Great now we have an SRC of a baby's hand, wow.
I would have bought ANY other Mazinger or classic Super Robot, not this...

I really don't mind at all, although the anime series was to slow for what Mazinger Z is all about, the concept story was very interesting but way to repetitive. ill buy this one as soon as is available. also the SOC god scrander version didnt sell well is because of been:
- practically all plastic and not enough diecast - they already made a previews version which had a lot of diecast. - the previews one had articulation while the other one was obsolete. - one included you the jet scrander and the other the god scrander.
But in reality, this Shin Mazinger version is well popular, the real problem is that it all boils down when you see they made 2 unnecessary SoC version in which it could have been incorporated as one and thats what it hurt him the most.
i understand that they could have made Grendizer and i agree, but perhaps they couldn't do it because they don't have the license of him and was been done by another company? HLPRO metaltech Grendizer perhaps, if so then it couldn't be help.
but does anyone notice that the shoulder joints of Shin Mazinger is kinda expose? is like this version could actually transform although perhaps is just incomplete for been a prototype. Im now really expecting a weapon set for this figure that brings the jet scrander, which pretty much it will be recycle by using the old weapon set one, all they need to do is change the belt and your done ( interestingly enough, the Jet Scrander that the first SRC MAzinger Z has is the one from Shin Mazinger).

Maybe its just me,but what I dont like about the SOC is the same thing i see here,Id much rather have a parts swap set of wings that dont look like they are meant to make something else as these do.Actually its a similar look as the Gx-01R has with the scrander wings being able to go up or down, you sacrifice the look of the wings for action play wings{which look ugly},Gx-45 wings along with the SRC Maz ones to me are awesome,as you just flip flop them to be in flying mode, perfect.Bandai is yet to make a "PERFECT" old school Mazinger, but that is another topic,If GX01R+ had GX-45 type wings, and white limbs we'd be pretty close! Bandai made a Grendizer so i doubt they dont have rights,HL Pro/High dream is hardly a major company,I doubt they have a full monopoly over Grendizer, even though that is all they make really. But to all of you who welcome this piece, super! Ill just keep waiting for something else, like the Sun Vulcan SRC we were shown,or some other Super Robot made before 1984.,but I wont hold my breath as I see where Bandai is going with SRC,and its not the path Id hoped for when Mazinger,Great Maz,and Reideen were released.

true, Bandai did Grendizer as a SoC, there hasn't been a newer version of him by Bandai but is been made by revoltech and the HLPRO or other companies. this makes you think about if Bandai does have the license or not. however i would like to have some more obscure Super Robots like gattaiger and then Grendizer for the heck of it ;D.
Indeed, Bandai is starting yet again to saturate the line with Mazinger Z, my concern here is that once they do Mazinkaiser OVA, will they do Mazinger Z OVA and Proto Great Mazinger to go with him as well? wouldn't it also saturate more the SRC line with more Mazinger as a hole and not making more different robots like Golion or Godannar (examples)?.
to be fair, i would prefer to have the custom Mazinger Brother that was on a magazine for nostalgia of the Jumbo version or the battle damage Mazinger Z as TWE, but that is not happening. im surprise they did make Shin Mazinger like right now instead of been release later on.
i am much more concern of the possible over-saturation of Mazingers like they did in SoC.

I don't mind it's just one more Mazinger in a sea of Sentai, GGG, and other modern Super Robots that it's nice to have a classic or classic based SRC again. They've released 18 unique non-web exclusive figures so perhaps this one will be the 20th release after Daizyujin as some sort of celebration for hitting 20.

Yeah I would take that list with a grain of salt, even IF that list were legit nothing is set in stone and things change. Plus it is wikipidia so any joe blow can register and write down whatever they want. But if you noticed after Shin Mazinger the list has nothing but GGG, Sentai, and SRW stuff which I doubt Bandai is dumb enough to do. Anyways back on topic but I think this Mazinger is different enough from the first one that I won't mind getting it, I like the black lower legs and forearms. I also wonder if its compatible with the Jet Scrander and effect parts from the Maz weapon set. At the very least if it sells perhaps Bandai will be convinced to make that second weapons pack for the Mazinger's

Sigh... you just know a gold Tamashi exclusive variant will follow. I'll probably pass on this one, too many Mazingers already in my collection and he's hardly in my top 5 favorite robots By the way, looking at that list made me realize, they've already rolled out 19 figures, not counting exclusives, it's a third of the way to the SOC release count (more than halfway if you count the figures that are still waiting for light of day). I think the line will overtake the SOC release count fairly soon, no? Gold

The "Exclusive GOLD one" is a sure thing, since it did appear in the anime. The beauty or flaw (depending on one's particular taste) of the SRC line is the fairly simple engineering of the figures. Hardly any of the SRCs transform, and the ones that do are actually a very simple transformation. That is probably the main reason for so many releases in a fairly short amount of time. A lot of SOCs have to contend with complex transformations and/or combinations in addition to their articulation - and - they have to look as anime accurate as they can be. Of course this will take a lot longer to do than just make a non-transforming figure that looks excellent, has outstanding articulation, and does not involve any gimmicks at all.
But then again, I might be mistaken... ;D

No your right SOC's are the ultimate version of a Super Robot in toy form. If it transforms or combines or whatever Bandai will try and make it happen as long as the final form is still as anime accurate as possible. SRC's on the other hand are really just high quality action figures which may have a few gimmicks added but its mostly about articulation and sculpt which is why I'm doubting if this Mazinger even transforms or if it does there will be a ton of parts swapping.

I have the GX-49 then I will pass. It needs many parts swapping to transform into Big Bang Punch.
