Im shock to see the ebay prices are majorly inflated.
Are they that rare and popular?

I've got a couple too. I wouldn't say they are very popular, but the press runs seem small so the prices are high. I really like the ideas behind the busou shinki figures, but they aren't a high quality product generally. I mean they work and all the pieces fit etc, but it's average toy quality and not really sturdy for posing and such. It's debatable whether they are worth the retail price (probably not), but they definitely aren't worth the high prices asked on eBay. In my opinion I often think the sellers don't even really know what they are selling. It seems like they think these things are like a high end collectible toy, which they aren't... more like little rubbery plastic dolls and instead of changing their clothing, you change their mecha armor.

Well I wouldn't say they arent high quality there pretty good at least the more recent ones are. They are entirely made of abs aside from the hands so very sturdy and painting is pretty good to. They offer a ton of custom ability with swapableand interchangeable parts. Theonly problem is the more complex figuresareprone to falling parts when handling.
Let's not forget here is an online video game attatched to the figs and each figure gives you access to that character. I never played the game but I think it's akin to something like virtual on

Mine are older. In fact I have that mecha bunny add on kit that I think was from the original phase. As far as sturdiness goes, I was talking more about how well they can pose in various stances and not so much the materials. They're fine, but they don't have the balance and articulation that you see in Revoltech or Figma. I do like them though.

I have a few of these. Really thought it was a clever idea of marketing with the game/figure product tie-in from konami. Unfortunately the online character-raising simulation game Battle Rondo and the partner software program Diorama Studio went belly up last summer. Now Konami is putting all its energy into the toyline and its subsequent games for PSP and card battle games. I did get a chance to download and play Battle Rondo for a bit though. It was quite fun despite my lack of reading/understanding Japanese fully. Some of the newer characters look fantastic though. These latest ones especially seem to be quite expensive right out the gate! I wouldn't mind trying to get my paws on that Mika Akitaka Vic Viper character design though. www.hlj.com/product/KNM14302

I recently bought my first Busou Shinkis, the two aforementioned Vic Vipers. The Vic Vipers are quite nice. They have a transformation that doesn't require any part swapping. Since they have to become armor, though, they're hollow. The feet are similar to Jehuty's and Anubis's, so there's no way they can balance without a stand.
The girls have a good amount of articulation, though some of their connection points seem a little loose. I've had problems with arms falling off, and I can't seem to secure the chest pieces. Also, some of the weapons are too heavy for the arms. The default armored form doesn't look so great, but the nice things about these is that you can create your own arrangements.
The price, however, is quite steep. You do get a lot to play with, but even with AmiAmi's discounts they were still pretty expensive. It's even worse if you try to buy these off the secondary market. The sad part is that I've heard that up until as recently as last year, you could get Busou Shinkis for fairly low prices on eBay. What a bad time to start getting interested in this line.
