www.japanator.com/pilder-on-mazinger-z-might-go-live-action-23255.phtmli don't know what to think of this... On one hand it would be awesome to see a true live action Mazinger Z while on the other hand live action movies deviate for the most part away from the original anime becoming something that it becomes something completly different and has nothing to do been base on the original anime its been base off. However, if it becomes a reality and becomes successful, it would open doors for other mecha movies like an official Great Mazinger, Getter Robo and even an official UFO Grendizer movie and so on. at least a positive side would be is not hollywood doing this (YES!). anyway discuss

As long as they do not make Mazinger look like a Transformer (like they did with Gaiking), I'm okay with it. Hell, if it turns out anything like the Space Battleship Yamato live action movie, it will rock! ;D

Speaking of Gaiking, what happened to the movie?

I won't even think about that Gaiking "movie", I'll dismiss it as an internet rumor for now. As for this news about Nagai looking to dish out a live-action Mazinger-Z movie, I surely hope it will remain faithful to its original source; and I'm glad this won't be shat upon by the likes of Michael Bay nor James Cameron, to say the least. I've also read news articles online that Go Nagai's nephew (or son?) will have some involvement in this live-action MZ project... I presume the kid has some knowledge of modern-day film-making/CG animation technologies to bring Mazinger-Z to life on the big screen. Whatever becomes of this project, IF it nails the original source spot on, it will be a smash box-office hit with Asian and European fans more so likely than it will appeal to an audience here in the U.S. (except for us U.S. fans, of course). And, if it really generates huge revenue at the box office, we can expect to see some kind of toy or novelty merchandise from this movie's franchise. Whatever that case may be, I'll be ready to snatch me up a copy of the movie once it goes to DVD or BD. Omakase kudasai, Dokuta Nagai! zozo-mag

I guess the problem here is which continuity will they base it on. Unless they'll start a new one. I won't mind that, but I hope the characters would stay as faithful as possible to what we've see.
I'd like to see how they'll make the live action Baron Ashura.

it would be very easy to make a mazinger movie these days without mazinger looking like a transformer full of mechanical parts and pieces. they already did one live action super robot movie just like it, tetsujin 28! it was very well made, the robots tetsujin and black ox look fantastic and moved as they should move if they were real, and the effects were very nicely done too!!!! i really dont see a reason for concern with the mazinger z movie being made all wrong.

I think that Tetsujin-movie style would look great with Mazinger... ...but then, make him move a bit stealthier, like JetJaguar in the Godzilla vs Megalon movie, or kinda like the classic Mach Baron tv show.

Someone at NewMundoMazinger found an outside source with this latest youtube clip...

I haven't watched this yet, I'm running on my laptop battery and soon I'll be heading off to work this evening. (also, my bandwidth is very slow right now, having problems upping more chapters in my KlassikZee thread. will continue that tomorrow during the day.)

Well, last night I had TRIED to watch and listen to that Go Nagai interview videoclip regarding his proposed Mazinger-Z movie... ...personally, I was aggravated because at first I couldn't hear the audio. After tweaking some audio settings in Mediaplayer Classic the audio became too loud and resonant (room reverb in that interview location) for me to understand Nagai's answers to the interviewers questions.
Of course, if I had continued tweaking my mediaplayer's audio settings I'll loose the default settings I had when watching movies or else my laptop would've crashed.
That aside. Let's just assume that Nagai is planning a Mazinger movie, whatever format it may be remains to be seen; therefore let's not take that for granted just yet since for now this is just in a table-talk conference stage. It is unknown to me what Nagai has drafted at this time, and his decision of the production companies who will assume the project is still unknown.
Keep our eyes open for any Legitimate information and further developments regarding this project. And, as tempting as it may be, don't jump to any concluded hypes and rumors which may abound throughout the internet. I'd say the best souce of info should be relied upon from Nagai's official websites of Dynamic Planning, Inc. and their relative channels.
The final outcome of this Mazinger movie project will either Wow us or plow us.

I'll try to listen to that video clip again later this weekend... ...and I'll translate it in Notepad... then I'll convert the video into AVI format and open it in SubtitleWorkshop where I can translate the text into English. I can't promise perfect results as I can barely understand the noisy audio. Soon as that's done I'll post it back up here and at YT for English-speaking fans to see.
