Hi everyone! I'm new here and just rediscovered these awesome toys after I stopped buying them many, many years ago. These fewture gokins are incredible. As are their prices, lol. I am seriously looking to buy my first one, and the two that I can't decide between are the Shin Getter 1 and the Getter 1 Repaint. I really like them both, so I need help making a decision. Any thoughts on the one you prefer? You guys are the experts, and any pros and cons would be appreciated. Thanks!

A couple of weeks ago i handed over the big money and bought a Shin Getter. I also have the Getter 1 repaint. Personally i prefer Getter 1. The paint application looks more precise and intricate with lots of panel lines. That much you can see yourself also on CollectionDX's reviews. It also feels more robust and safe to play with, possibly because it is shorter. However both are different, with Shin Getter bringing a fantasy RPG-like element, while Getter 1 repaint has something steampunk going on, which again i prefer. Just get both, then get a Black Getter, then get a loan, then get Getter 2 and 3.

Thanks, dimis. That is a big help! I kind of was leaning towards the Getter 1 repaint as it has more of the old school robot look that I love. What about the waist joint? I read a few reviews saying it was very loose/kind of weak - how do you feel about it?
Shin Getter sure is great looking too. Such hard decisions! I may just have to follow your plan to get all of them, lol.

Didn't have any waist issues with mine, but you do have to handle them with TLC
Once you start.......there's no turning back

I have the original release and truly like the Getter 1. However, when it comes to shelf presence, Getter 1 pales in comparison to the Shin Getter, with or without its wings on. Shin Getter is just a massive work of art. I have to suggest getting the Shin Getter, and then the original Getter Team if you can afford them too. }D

Hey TheMazingerZ. Thanks for your impressions. Now I am back at square one - I want them all, lol!
How poseable are these two? From the pics I've seen, it looks like the Shin Getter has more of a range of poses. But that's just from pics and could depend on the person posing them.
I have some thinking to do...lol...

My advise to you; get the one you like! Forget about what other people think. These things are expensive, so spend your money on the character that you like the most. Other than asking about any QC issues they might have, or any problems people's had with them - if any - you should just go for the gusto! Believe me, you'll sleep better at night if you buy what YOU want instead of what other people recommended you to get. ;D }D

Thanks for the great advice! That's my problem: I like both characters. Both have been favorites of mine for a long time. Ideally, I'd get both, but that is not going to happen. Yet. Lol. All of your impressions are greatly appreciated!

I love all the Getters but never warmed up to Shin getter,BUT until I saw the closed wing version with the all red color scheme!!I finally got one today. The reason why i didnt like the original is I hated the brown shoulders, just ruins the red color aesthetically for me.Glad I found the Closed wing red color scheme. But my favorite is the "New Getter 1"the one on bottom front left.

You know, I have the "W" wing version, but have no idea what color the shoulders are. I'm gonna have to check on that. It's true, the red shoulders look a lot better than the brown ones! ;D }D

Well, my suggestion would be getting the one you can afford and make the most sense economically speaking. Since u asked about choosing one of the two so i assume that getting both price wise is impossible for now.
Personally, I would opt for the new Black getter instead of either the getter 1 or the shin getter. Only reason for it its because black getter will be the cheapest of the 3 as it will be MSRP vs those 2 in the aftermarket. Shin getter is about 700 to 1000 exclusing shipping on ebay and various online stores. Getter 1 is about 500 to 700 as well. However black getter is 400 to 500 on pre-order, plus you are not feeding into the evilbayers.
p.s. I am pretty sure shin getter will get a repaint version but maybe in a year or 2.

Shin Getter is indeed more poseable - just the arms have insane articulation - and Getter 1 repaint's waist is a bit weaker than it should have been - certainly weaker than Getter 2's. As for how impressive a piece is, it's not only about the bulk and the height. Getter 1 has that extra crisp finish. I love the maroon of Shin's shoulders and knee caps, but the green and white somehow don't come together for me, and they look foggy compared to the light blue of Getter 1 repaint's. Gotta stop writing now.

Getting Getter 1 will open up your desire to complete the set of 3, which you will if you are the completist type. Its totally kickass seeing getter 1 2 3 together vs. shi getter 1 alone. In my opinion, get getter 1 then complete the set. Then skip the fewture mazingers and go for shin getter 1. Whatever you get, have fun

Thanks for all the comments, guys. I keep going back and forth on these two great robots. I guess either way, I'll be happy with the one I end up going with. The Shin is a great stand alone toy and looks to have a lot of presence. The Getter 1 is great as well, especially if I can get the other two. It may take a while, but I may just have to get all of them, lol. I have reserved the Black Getter Repaint though, a while back. And I CAN change him into the Black Getter 1, so there's that. But the colors just wouldn't match Getter 2 and 3, right?

Not to derail my own thread, but how do the Fewture Mazingers compare to the Fewture Getters? They look pretty fantastic. Just asking.
