Sorry to say I'm not a big fan. They have too much mechanical parts showing and they don't really look like Transformers.

I agree. I wonder who designed this... I like prime coz I'm only looking at a small picture. But bumblebee & blockout? Correct me please! I see sophisticated but not very practical designs... The point is, you are a robot who is involved in battle-getting shot/hit/thrown/crashing & burning...etc. And you have a lot of parts hanging about... You need more skin...How about a protective armor/exoskeleton I dunno go figure... Are they gunning for the C3P0 pre-gold suit look?

OJA, yes i agree 'sophisticated but not practical'
its a case of 'lets see how much of a showcase we can make these designs' I often wonder about CGI 'artists' they should be called 'technicians', sure they can create all this stuff but theres a point where the designs are elaborated to a sub optimal point.
They look like any old anime type mecha, no, I dont like prime or bumblebee. I can already see im going to quickly tire watching these guys over animated!
sorry. HELL these things are soooo not going to get anybodys affections.

hi mannyD. we meet again
sorry guys im a transformers addict and i like the robots.
thats perfect for me.
holliwood movies tend to make a movie as real as possible to the point of believability. american movie goers likes the whole point of watching a movie wherein the posibility of it coming to reality is very credible.
if michael bay would make a transformers movie exactly like the cartoons but with real actors. i think the american movie goers will ask a lot of questions.
i think this movie is more on the visual enjoyment of the transformers theme than the cultural following the toys generated. and i like the different perspective of michael bay.

...and they remind me of spawn mecha figures too

the designs are nice, but they fit more into a Blade Runner / Terminator type of movie. It doesn't suit the TF title.
I'll agree, not too practical especially if the enemy robot can "rip out your optics" by just pulling some something hanging out from your neck... jeez!

im hoping that the movements of these robots are fluid, like they are living sentiental beings and not like star wars's C3P0 type of movements.

I think they are suitable for a live action. I sorta dig the style.
I think we have th watch this movie while forgeting the past. They are doing their take on transformers, not trying to remake g1.
I love big robots, and america does not have enough or any good, giant robot movies. I give this movie my approval for hope of seeing more giant robot movies. I hope thre movie makes it as a blockbuster, so we America will accept more giant robot movies.
I am wondering if and how the toys would work.

One other thing to consider... Imagine you are a kid... New to transformers... You like the movie, OK. Then you try to draw it. Good LucK.

yeah
so okay
personally, im in love with every stinkin one of these designs
i'll admit that at first i was pretty WTF about it, but thinking about it a little more, these things are just amazing
And one of the reasons i say so is because its so freakin different from anything we've ever had before. The designs here deviate SO MUCH from the norm that some people threaten to leave the fandom. I mean. When was the last time Transformers done that?
Beast Wars
And now look at it. most popular/influential part of TF history.
This here is the next step in Transformers 20+ year evolution and i say bring it on.
i cant wait to see these guys on the big screen. They're gonna look incredible
and my hats off to the designers. when i first saw bits of design pics i woulda never imagined a toy being made of them but you guys proved me wrong.
*hedbangz*
overall im really jived about this stuff. its gonna rock

This is what I did not want to happen, all the pistons and shafts make these things look to messy plus they look like something out of a H.R Giger (sp?) design book. Plus it's gonna take these things ten minutes to transform from either mode, sure it will look cool the first couple of times but after awhile it's gonna drag. All I have to say is Mass-shifting is NOT cheating. Oh, and Starscream looks like he has Waspinators face.

I just looked at that link. Guess that answers my toy question. the last one looks like a prototype. As long as they don't give these the lame colouring of most current TF toys I will like it.

toys look fun. But the robot mode.. like people have been saying looks so messy. it's just too easy to grab the innards. Plus the thing I like about Transformers, is that in robot mode. Theres a distinct look that you can tell what it may transform into. There's recognizable parts.
Like if you look at Anniversary or g1 prime.. or most of the prime figures. You can tell its a Mack truck. The one here.. looks cool. But theres very little to clue you in. Besides the wheels.
thats my biggest beef.
