Sweet, they went with a more stylized sculpt. The thing that have always bothered me with the original Gurren Lagann were them ugly oil can looking shin guards. Head sculpt is looking good too. Glad to see it happen. I look forward to getting both, this one and Gunbuster since I never got the SOC version. Glad to have waited cause Gunbuster was never a character I felt comfortable with paying even the retail price back then at 175$ plus during the initial release. Just not that big of a fan so a 50-60$ SRC version is just perfect.

Thanks Gold! This will look good next to my diecast Konami Gurren Lagann from CDX: -------------- Speaking of announcements, what ever happened to bizzio? He used to drop news like these here....

I just hope that the whole SRC line doesn't evolve into slightly larger Robot Damashiis.

Yes! Finally an SRC Gurren Lagann. He looks amazing. Looks like no wings or drills. Though, they might get shown later. I really like the chest face sculpt.
BTW. This is the kind of design that totally belongs in SRC. He IS a Super Robot of EPIC STATUS

You'll probably be able to get two for the price of just one Riobot GL, but man... just look at it The eye rolling gimmick alone makes the same pose a lot better looking in comparison.

I will have the Riobot one in my hands this week. I view it as the Fewture version of GL!

Yeah, I may pass on this SRC. No metallic crimson, no wings (yet), not anime accurate like Konami's, just not my style...

I was gonna speculate that the way SRC does things, the wings and other accessories are going to be add ons weapon packs. That way they can charge you more. And hopefully, they don't forget about it like the Mazinger Z weapons pack 2 set.

Yeah. That is my thinking too. Means we might get a Enki or Lazengann as a Web Exclusive. This bad boy WILL sell out like the SRC Megazord did.

Awesome news, Gold. I knew this would happen. As soon as I get my Riobot GL in the mail, this official announcement arrives. LOL! Sort of wish I hadn't spoiled it with my Riobot purchase now. I mean, don't get me wrong the Riobot ver. is sweet, but the price is just fricking teh insAnE1!! I personally dig the stylized legs on this interp.
Looking forward to preorders! :-)

The SRC sculpt is very nice and anime accurate. The way it is drawn in the show has always been stylized anyway. Though having the whole collection of the Revoltech GLs, this release didn't add to it a whole lot, as their look and articulation is very similar (now with improved diecast parts).
With all things considered, I favored over the Riobot, as the sculpt brings something new (like a step up), as well as the genius engineering on all the moving parts. Looks like their size will be very close, with Riobot being a bit bigger than Revoltechs, which is just about the SRC sizes. Almost like Bandai wants to go head to head against Sen-ti-nel. And we'll have to see if Bandai is going to include the wings and other accessories, to determine the actual price difference of the 2 sets.

Well this is good news for me, I don't want to spend the money on a Riobot or even more for a Konami one and I'm not interested in the Revoltechs so this is perfect for. It will be my first Gurren Lagann figure and with the SRC line being above average it should be a nice piece.

Yeah, definitely a good inbetween price point option, for those that didn't jump onto the GL bandwagon early on, nor too diehard to have all the other figures already.
The only gripes I have on SRC line are some random loose metal joints, which are very hard or can't be fixed in most case. But aside from that, the quality is quite good for something $50-60 and actually have diecast in it.

The SRC sculpt is very nice and anime accurate. The way it is drawn in the show has always been stylized anyway. Not really, if we are talking about the anime series. The Konami versions are the most anime accurate of all the renditions ever made, no question about it. ;D I may still pick it up, if the price is not too high. If I don't warm up to it, then I'll just sell it. }D

The Konami versions are the most anime accurate of all the renditions ever made, no question about it. ;D }D Konami's is accurate to the line art, but not to the exaggerated animation drawing style they actually used in the show. The Revoltech GL is the closest (not looking at toy quality, just the silhouette & poses), if I have to pick one, while Bandai's SRC is very close too, except the legs (too tapered on the lower legs). Maybe you haven't watch the show for a while. Here, to refresh your memory a bit. (SPOILER ALERT!!! For those who haven't watch the show yet. Avoid this video big time!)

Yeap, nice videos, the second one even more so! Still, to me the Konami is more anime accurate, even more than the Revoltech. }D
