Just a quick update guys, Ive been looking at photos and videos of the older MT01 and comparing it with mine. The new Chrome edtion looks a hellva lot better than the older one. The paint looks darker and deeper, the new head looks fantastic and the articulation seems to be a bit smoother than the older ones. The new chrome edtion looks almost SOC level compared to the older MT01. The hands seem to be a darker blue plastic than before and the paint is alot deeper and glossier..ased on photos of the older one Id take the new over it any day of the week. I put him side by side with my SRC Mazingers and the MTchrome blows it away.. no kidding.

I'll stick to anime colors with mine! HLPro did a way better job than Bandai with the chrome application on this figure. However, did you know that they are releasing a version 2 Grendizer with better articulation, very similar to SRCs? I don't think they will have a chrome version thou, just regular anime colors. }D

yeah HLPro told me on facebook.. but thats gonna be a year so so away and I can bet you that its gonna be a 150 dollar figure with a 150 dollar Spazer.. Ill get both of them when they come out and Im happy to keep this 50 dollar chrome in my collection.. for the money you cant beat him.. they did a really good job on him,

Hi gettershadow,
I held off ordering the first MT-01 as I did not like the original head sculpt. This chrome version is the best so far IMHO.
If I find the elbow joint is too long for my taste I shall try to shorten it. Has anyone attempted to do that?
Cheers,

Yeah I held off on the HLpro line mostly bc to get that anime head I would have had to buy the deluxe kit of a figure I had not seen in person yet AND I would have had to buy the anime version figure for that bounus head... not really a good sales strategy on HLpro's part. A new customer just doesnt drop that much commitment into something hes never seen with his own eyes before. This Chrome version was a good idea for them... I think it may actually open up the whole Metaltech line to new collectors because now that I have the right Grendy, Im now interested in gettting the rest of the line-up.. even the trike!.. but for me the Trike is near the bottom of the list.
someone was talking about that elbow mod but I forgot who it was.. maybe "themazingerz"? I think If I do a mod, Ill just put some rubber washers in there cut to the right size..

I remember that the bonus head that came with the Grendizer/Spazer set was painted white, not silver.... If you modify your elbow joint please take photos...thanks! Cheers, 70's Super Robot Fan

Cheers, 70's Super Robot Fan yeah but the white bonus head can go on Chrome and it looks great. On facebook, HLpro has photos of a Chrome prototype with the white anime bonus head on it and it looks friggin fantastic! HLpro did not go with the blue stripe on the shoulder though, the stripe on mine is metallic lavender.. friggin badass looking!

The lower legs are real heavy diecast, parts of the upper leg and the ball joints are metal, the pelvis is diecast, the chest seems to be diecast. Alot more diecast than a SRC Mazinger and Gread Mazinger in its same price range. I dont think its fair to compare the MT01 to the GX04. GX04 is a big budget item thats bigger and heavier and comes with spazers. What the MT01Chrome has in its favor is low buy-in price, fantastic agile looking sculpt, decent articulation and you can collect a range of Grendizer enemies and a Die cast Spazer with a badass sculpt on it. HLpro has enemy robots like Giru Giru, and Jin Jin is coming. So if you want to collect a whole bunch of Grendizer or Jeeg stuff, HLpro is gonna be the company to go with.

As you can see in this video, the GX-04 is quite blocky-looking in my opinion and the design of the spazers are kinda "busy-looking" in my opinion. The GX is "gimmick-heavy" I think. The MT stuff is alot sleeker-looking, more diecast in the Spazer also.. with alot less "gimmick"s to break up the natural lines of the thing. Not to knock the GX though, its a good piece, just not what Im looking for.
