I'm an inventory nerd and keep track of my collection. Recently I analyzed for the total amount of time between I placed an order (pre-order) and the time when the item is actually in my hands. Here are the results: average wait time is 42 days maximum wait time is 435 days median wait time is 11 days weighted average wait time (based on dollars) is 46 days (meaning the average wait time of order placed for each dollar spent is 46 days) 30% of the items require at least one month of wait 17% of the items require at least two months of wait 5% of the items require at least six months of wait 2% of the items require at least one year of wait Obviously there are items which is bought in store and require 0 days of wait time, and then there are items like the Mattel Voltron subscriptions that doesn't materialize until much later. I regretted not getting the Shin Getter which would have topped this list with over 2 years of wait time. It's no wonder why I'm always looking forward to time flying by. Perhaps we should step back and enjoy what we've got more instead of always anticipating what's to come???

Good subject LOL. Interesting and entertaining statistics you've compiled.
Some of us are DEFINEITLY less patient than others, haha, and it crosses the lines of both vintage and modern toy collectors. Doing this for a long time, I've found I still look and hope for things to come, but have long since lost any antsy-pants over orders. They're toys. We didn't have the latest last year, or last week, etc.,so what difference does it make how soon a toy is released? None. Yes, it is good to exercise the thought once in a while of looking at how much we have, and how much ourself of 5 ,10,15 yrs ago would have been boggled by what we have now haha.

I don't really mind waiting for a new release as long as it gets released at some point and that it can be acquired at or below MSRP. The trend these days, especially with the DX frontier valk, is that if a preorder isn't made there is a good chance that it'll cost more down the road.
Another trouble is that if the want list is long and the purchase isn't made at release, it's pretty hard to play catch up and backtrack. so instead of playing catch up its just easier (and often cheaper) to just preorder, which brings me to starting this thread.
TMZ, I did order the MP vehicle Voltron. While is near the top of the list in terms of wait time, it's far from number one. The igear not-ratchet and iron hide also took forever to release. We also waited forever for the black lion to finally come out. Then of course there is Shin Getter, which I didn't get. If VV gets delayed till after Chinese new year, which often means April or later, then it's starting to be an even match with those releases.

Patience comes into play when you wait literally years to acquire a toy you have wanted, but been unable to find due to condition, availability, price etc.
Still waiting on some...
...patience...
It's a Zen thing.

Patiently waiting for the time I can resume buying figs, so I can go after all the Mazinger bots I've always wanted (the Gigabyte Maz, the SRC, and now the DX Maz).
Patience is a virtue........... today I battered an ostrich. ;D
