Just wanted to throw it out that my friend is looking to sell his 1940 Superman of America Ring. There are only 21 of them known in the world, so if there are any hard core Superman fans out there, let me know. These rarely come up for sale, the last one being in 2010 that sold for over $6,000. My friend's ring was appraised in 2008 at the $15,000 to $20,000 range, but he is only asking $10,000 or maybe a bit less, due to the value slipping from economics, and to pass it on to another younger collector than himself (he is 71). PM me if interested or if you know someone that might be. Thanks guys.

Yes I am actually waiting for him to e-mail the pictures to me, but the pictures aren't the clearest as this ring is super small. Of course it was for a child. But I will get them loaded up as soon as he sends them to me.

Pictures of the 1940 Superman of America Ring. It has age patina on it, but if taken to a professional ring cleaner/restorer, this would be near to good as new. This is graded in above good condition, and again only 21 of these exist in the world. The only known mint one sold for $125,000. The last one seen sold on Ebay for $6500 in 2010, well below its actual $25,000 value. This pictured ring is valued at $15,000-$18,000. Again he is asking $10,000. 2 ore pictures below.

Picture 3. It still has the red paint on the face track and all of its textures and designs, minus Superman's actual facial features as they've worn off over the 70 years. The ring needs a good cleaning and buffing, but the owner was told never to do it as it could remove value. Heck I would think he would get more if it was cleaned up so all the detail could pop out. It would only fit on my pinky as it is a child's prize ring. From the story of these things, only 21 are known to exist as these were only offered as a mail in prize for 2 weeks before they canceled this ring as a prize. And only 21 entries were said to make it in before the prize was cut off. These rings are supposed to be the collectable of all Superman collectables because of the rarity. You think a mint Popy/Godaikin Tetsujin-28 is rare, think again. This is even more rare than a Popy black Daltanious. Even the 1939 first Superman wooden action figure that usually can fetch 10 grand isn't as rare as this. Only 21 exist, and it was cool to see and hold. Oh and he is holding at $10,000 firm. Let me know if anyone is interested and thanks.

Yes I saw that one too. This one is much nicer. Spread the word if you have any Superman fan friends. Also if anyone is on another collector forum with other toys and super heros, put out the word about this ring. Thanks all.

Ebay would be your best bet. Forums like this are good for niche markets, but if you have a wide appeal item like that your best bet is to put it up for auction on ebay. Yeah, You'll pay fees, but it's worth it to find the right buyer.
Good luck! haha

You guys mention Pawn Stars... why not contact them about buying this ring? They seem to be very fair, at least on their show. Just an idea... }D

No way, those guys would haha! They would only offer $200 thinking my friend is an idiot, and knowing the last one that came on the market for sale, sold for $6500 in 2010. I mean only 21 in the world exist. If these come up for sale only every 4-5 years, you know they're special. The one that sold last before the 2010 one was in 2006, selling for $15,000. The one before that which is the only known mint one in 2001 sold for $125,000. $200 was sad. The 2 rings listed in the books that are listed in poor condition is still valued at $1700 each. Cheap ba$t*rd those Pawn Stars are at times. I wonder if Jordan the Toy Hunter would pay more haha.

That was just a joke! haha. That's what they usually say.
Jordan from Toy Hunter is on twitter and fairly responsive. Might want to try him.
He's not going to pay retail though.

I heard he is not the greatest person to deal with. A lot of people dislike him. He does seem a little fake and annoying. I'm sure what we see on the show is well constructed, haha.

Oh yes. All that sh*t is planned and heavily scripted. Same thing with the auction and storage unit shows. You can take tips from them to help you on your hunts, but don't think it's just easy pickings - you have to work for a great find and you will have tons of times where you come up with nothing.
