Isn't that from a video game?

Yes, it is from the game Super Robot Wars Original Generation. It is a combiner using units R-1, R-2 and R-3, with the R-1 looking the most like a Gundam. You can find reviews of the Kotobukiya kit on other site searching with google. For more info on the SRX and the SRX team see the SRWOG wiki. superrobotwars.wikia.com/wiki/SRX

There's a cheaper model kit, but the king is the Volks version. Here's a review by TJ of the Volks version.

I almost bought one of those Volks, but when the price with shipping came over over $450, I just had to back down. After all, is is mostly ABS/PVC contruction... but it looks sooo good! Come on Bandai! You know this would make an awesome combining SOC!!! ;D

One thing to keep in mind with the Volks SRW figures is that the plastic is not durable on smaller connections. I love the Volks sculpts, but I've had to re-glue pegs and joint connections a few times with these figures.

I was hoping for a new figure too. Maybe SRC should do this figure.

There was a little bit of talk about a possible SOC SRX a few years when Bandai put out a teaser list at one of the toy fairs, but then the economy tanked and Bandai scrapped whatever plans they had at the time.

This thread had me excited too! The Volks piece is incredible. I have around 20 Volks SRW OG figures. Leftmost detolf and first three shelves: and the SRX team is what started me into buying them. I knew that it was a PVC kit going into it, so I wasn't disappointed by that and actually was pleasantly surprised at how durable it was. The plastic itself is dated in that it's such a soft type in a lot of places, but the engineering is nuts.I prefer the fact that they're completely parts-forming because it leads to an SRX that's totally screen accurate and totally poseable rather than having aesthetic or playability sacrifices made. It's also flippin' HUGE. Well worth the price, IMO. I'd love to see an updated, Gokin version of this, but I almost hope that it isn't made by Bandai SOC, because their robots that involve a lot of partsforming have never been a fun experience for me.

I would love to see pics of those Volks figures closer up. I have the SRC Alteisen, SRC Weisenreitter, Unifive Huckebein, and SOC Dygengaur & Aussenreitter. I have been wanting to add to that

Yea, I've taken studio style pics of each one. I'm kumastylegfx on Flickr, and I make separate sets for each figure I buy so its easy to search my stuff.

Get the Version Ka Exbein and Cybuster if you want to fill out your ranks. They go good with the SRC and SOC SRW's stuff.

Indeed. I own both of the c.v.kas and even though Cybaster is fiddly trash, they look great on a shelf.

Chen. I have been meaning to get those. Just looking for decent priced ones. Most I see are being sold by eBay sellers I refuse to buy from.
TJDuckett, thanks. Will look at your flickr!

Indeed. I own both of the c.v.kas and even though Cybaster is fiddly trash, they look great on a shelf. I think the same. Cybaster, at least, is best seen as an articulated statue, which rarely you change the pose, than some kind of thing that could resemble a toy. The useless transformation into Cybird mode doesn't help either. If only Bandai released the SRC Cybaster, it would probably be the best toy of the mecha so far.
