I'm in the process of makeing a Marvel Raydeen. I'm doing it out of the shorter (about 1/2") 1st edition jumbo. I need to get a set of white upper arms. Anyone else done this? Or seen one? Anyone make the arms? Tom

previous posts covered this before. white on jumbo proportions and basic color design turns out ugly. but if you really want to do that, the easiest way for a quick fix is to buy some shrink tubing, blow dry it on, and trim the edges. i dont think anyone is really doing repro upper arms.

Thank you sir!! I'll have everything else to transform him into the Marvel version, folding bow fist, white shield breaker, and delta wings. The only thing missing are the upper arms.... I have an extra one I could try the shrink tubing on, the search is on! Tom

There was also another thread for painting jumbos. And believe using a magic eraser to remove the gloss of the plastic was pretty successful for then painting the parts with good adhesion. I will do a quick search and "bump" it up.
I had thoughts about making upper white shoulders for Combattler, but haven't gotten around to that. With Raydeen so common, you just aren't going to see much for repro parts besides what Derik has offered.
This new board update from ProBoards is really starting to piss me off, get an error when trying to search. I also liked having e-mail notifications when I got a PM as well.

Thanks Bourno! I think painting may be the way I go. I looked for the shrink tubing and can't find any large enough. Lol, when you start doing the Combattler pieces, make an extra set for me if you would.... I'll eventually find one! Tom

Bourno I had to turn email notifications back on in my profile settings...it now works half the time. Already told the mods that I swear I am missing PMs. I have been on the mobile app for three days straight now. If you haven't tried PMs on the computer yet you will be even more pissed. So difficult to follow and is in reverse order. It's a conversation format now instead of email style. I am digging around to see if there are some settings to change.

Thank you Derik and Bourno for the parts!!! This is as close as it gets for now. I tried painting the upper arms from a spare and it just didn't look right.

hi, auto parts stores sell cans of interior paint, my convertible has a white interior and this stuff sticks to anything and WILL NOT come off, i know i spattered some on my stereo face plate. its dupli color, vinyl and fabric color. there is also the option of the spray paint that you can repaint plastic lawn furniture with. I know they make a white in that, and the home improvement stores have it. thinking that might be the best because its engineered to chemically bond with plastics. hope this helps.

Thanks Goldorak. I work at Lowe's and our paint rep recomended the Krylon. Tried it. I think the only way I would be able to do it is if I painted over the white on the legs as well. The colors just won't match up.

I don't know if the plastic lawn furniture spray paint will work on PE. The other vinyl and fabric paint you are talking about is good it is almost ate based. We have stronger stuff that is similar both spray can and liquid based plastic and vinyl dye but this one is more expensive and uses a special vase beforehand. I think SEM makes it, I'll have to look at the can.

nothing will stick to PE or PP unless you rough up the surface. even then its not a true bond as much as allowing the paint to grab onto and mold itself around a rough surface. they are linear block low energy plastics. designed so that at a molecular level they dont react, thats why they use them for plastic bins and garbage cans. you can paint it nice enough for display if you have no real intention to handle the surface at all. i had mentioned shrink tubing. not to nag about it, but if you cant find large sizes in white (i know finding large size in colors is tough but its out there) you can get it in black and paint the tubing after application. thats not really the most practical way to do it, but you wouldnt lose much definition that way. you could go to michaels and get everything you need to make molds etc to repro your own in white for about 70 bucks.

Molds.... There's a thought.... Could be dangerous.... I actually took a 60 grit piece of sand paper and srcatched it all up (evenly). Then I degreased them and put 2 primer coats. I then started spaying light coats, allowing 5 hours to totally dry. After about 6 coats it became really smooth so I lightly tried to bake it with a heat gun. It seems to have worked but I'll put a final coat on it tomorrow to get the right finish.

Got em! I see them pop up on ebay sometimes as 11x17 on card stock. Picked one up and I've been watching that top one for a while. There's also another one that has all the die casts. Thanks Tony! I'll head to Kinko's!!

Thanks Tony!!! I actually have all the comics. Went through them last night taking every angle shot I could get for when I start building my base for the ST's. I've never seen a model of the Shogun Sanctuary so I thought I would give it a shot.
