I was aware of energon when the toys were out but the gen 1 reissues kept me away. I recently got prowl and found quite an amazing toy with a quirky gen 1 feel and the fact that it could become the top or bottom of a larger superlinked bot. i quickly found some of the other delux sixed figures and realised how cool these things are and a lot of fun. I have a few duplicates and its cool to super'self'link with the same bots, that also gives some cool combos and linking backwards and then reconfigring the various body party gives some awesome looking bots. I really like prowl, towline, inferno and would really like downshift if the designers had done his feet differently. if they had have copied the gen 1 style lower legs of wheeljack ( instead of having those silly alternatoresque feet ) in the transformation. Its possible to do a gen 1 style lower leg which gives wheeljaks oddish proportions. i think a lot of the superlink pictures i saw previously didnt inspire but some of the bots look pretty good ok so inferno/prowl looks like hes got swimming flippers but with the windshied pushed up onto the midleg he doesnt have birdie legs anymore! CBC.

I always felt they were great toys....they weren't too small, there was a great variety, and then the superlink was a great feature. I'm guessing kid sales were quite strong. Collectors didn't take much notice.

At the time i bought arcee on the stregth of its microman look and ultra magnus maybe for its rather microman robotman look but sold those both on quickly. Now 3 years on i have the delux superlink stuff and i see some well designed toys which are TOUGH. You almost feel afraid to push and pull when superlinking but no breaks so far. The great thing is that these really feel like toys, even more so than the respected classics line. My fave is inferno which though simplistic in some ways has a great gen 1 homage and self links into a very nice bot, infact id go so far as to say that prowl and inferno are amongst my favourite TF I own.

Superlink/Energon toys are mainly a homage line. Inferno = G1 Inferno, Bulkhead = Springer, Downshift = Wheeljack, Rodimus = Rodimus, etc. That is one reason why some like the toys. Other than the fact that the line has a number of good figures. It's just that the show wasn't well done (the annoying Kicker didn't help it either).
