I used to really dig these, but not I sort of dread pulling them out. I recently visited a friend and brought along two of the more complex SOCs to show him. Going through the transformations/combinations was such a pain the ass. Its just not a simple process anymore (for example, one was Daiojya). I did not enjoy it. If I did it once and then just left it on my shelf in combined mode (or individual mode), then that would be fine. But the idea of having to do this every time I want to check it out just sends a wave of unease through me. Anyone else experience this? I certainly appreciate the engineering that goes into it and the appearance. But sometimes I am happy just handling GX-01 (although that might not be the best example).

Same here. I hate dealing with the GD-99 and GE-01 Aquarions for that same reason. I always get a headache when combining or separating the ships on those two. The SOC Gunbuster is not far behind them either... }D

I think it maybe due to the fact that we own many that we tend to forget how to transform/combine after a while. Now, that you mentioned it, I don't think I would be able to combine my SOC Ideon, Gunbuster, Daltanious, Dancouga Etc without the instructions. Heck, even with the instructions the DX Aquarion is a total PITA to combine. And as a kid I didn't really own that many robots which meant I was able to "master" what I had.

I agree. Even some of the Transformers are more complex. The MP-10 transformation was way complex.
As for combiners. The Chogokin Mickey was way more complex than it needed to be in the torso section.

Ughhh... the words "Combiner", "Chogokin", and "Mickey" should NEVER be used in the same post! }D

how about this one for complicated transformation: The GD and GE Aquarions are about 500 times more difficult... }D

Glad I'm not the only one. I think that when I first get it, I really dig the transformation as I work through it for the very first time. Its cool to just see how it works. But any time after that? OMG!

The Robo Mickey isn't too bad TMZ. I'd choose it over the One Piece Franky. At least the bodily proportions on the combined form are better than that.

MP Rodimus isn't a combiner, but he is a pain the ass. Mainly for fitment issues, but he has some complexity. Really turned me off even though he looks great, and I will be selling mine.

Studio Half Eye pieces are in pole position. Dancouga nova is a bit complicated. AND you can force any part without breaking something (it's no Hasbro plastic). My Maneuver blade is also a pain in the brain... Same thing with MP-05 Megatron.

I would never get a SHE figure, for one they look like sh*t and all the fuss about perfect transformation and all that when the figure ends up being way different looking from the anime, with all the sacrifices,a perfect POS more like it ! Id rather have a parts former that LOOKS anime accurate.Like the one Getter SHE with all the different extra crap hanging from it.Brittle way overpriced resin garbage. The only one I even remotely like is that odd green sword creature thing only from a manga, and its way stupid over priced, for something that breaks like a cracker.

I don't mind the complication. I just hate being watched. Too much pressure!

I only have one SHE figure. It is a non-transformable Getter Robo Go. Pretty nice, but quite small and pricey ($65?) for what it is. Now, if I had money to burn - like Bill Gates, I would definitely get a SHE GaoFighGar with Goldion Hammer, Dangaioh, Godannar, and Dancouga Nova. Those look pretty good in the pictures I've seen. But all other SHE releases, either look like crap, or just do not interest me at all. }D

Complicated combiners don't bother me it's if the process is intuitive or a chore to get to the final result. A lot of combiners that have a lot of processes also have a transformation that makes sense and one step flows into the next but a lot of the more modern stuff seems to not be intuitive but more just solutions to a problem and just thrown in. God Sigma is intuitive the Mastermind Sixshot is not IMHO. Both get easier the more you do it and the more times you handle toys like these the process get's easier no matter what the figure is. It's just the level of experience a company has making a toy like this, there's hundreds of different ways to get to the same result but only a few that makes sense.

Not really "joining" the the three parts which is simple enough but making sure all the little compartments/doors/wings are in the right position when in their different modes. I haven't watched the anime of these robots enough to know exactly where everything is supposed to go.
