I think I've seen that in a toy. Isn't it like a vintage Bullmark or Toho toy? I'm not sure if it was ever made in the DX or big size, but I think I've seen him in the smaller Bullmark sizes along the same line as the Toho or Red King diecast mecha King Kong. Or the Bullmark line like the silver or bronze diecast Godzilla/Gojira.

Maybe an original Middle-Eastern Super Robot? You know, like the Koreans did with Taekwon V... }D

That robot looks peculiar. It has visual appearance elements (the head and upper body) of some of the mechanical beasts from the classic Mazinger-Z series... Rood-R2 ( Mazinger-Z enemy robot, episode #44) and Brutus-M3 ( Mazinger-Z enemy robot, episode #30) and Winder-A2 ( Mazinger-Z enemy robot, episode #21) My wild guess: it turned out looking so "ugly" that Go Nagai probably either canned it or decided to use it as a mechanical beast in the Mazinger series. Nice find, Baron! zozo-mag

My problem is I know I recognize the helmet/face, albeit maybe in a different color. It's killing me.

After an hour of poking around the net and looking through all Anime aired in Japan from 1970-1985, I'm going to stick to my theory that the artist of that article probably drew that character by mistake from one of the show's villains and no such show exists. Gold

Looks somewhat familiar, but I've got nothing, other than to say stylistically, it definitely looks Middle Eastern in origin.

Got nothing on this guy too, I say the person that drew this poster took some liberties in adding his own super robot.

Awesome artwork, very oldskool I remember a local magazine here in the Philippines during the late 70's that featured robots done by local artists aside from the usual SRs of that era. They're mostly based on native warriors, I think my favorite was the one that looked like an "Igorot" warrior. Maybe it's the same deal with Thailand.

He does to me look alot like TaeKwon V aside from the helmet,I also initially thought he was a Mazinger villain.I know for sure he has no show of his own looking through my SR encyclopedias, but i thought he may be recognized as a rare knockoff SR show like the fake Gakeen called Goldwing i think..some knockoff of a fake SR,but he resembles no one else.

hmm maybe is only for that book specifically? like a extra character to act with the real heroes like a one time only thing.

Yeah, but there are already nine heroes in that lineup. What difference will one more added hero make! ...like the State public utility crews: one does all the work digging the street, while the others stand around and watch. zozo-mag

I asked a Thai friend to translate the text:
* Reach the year of 1985. * 32 exclusive images you shouldn't miss * Painting competition with our magazine * Latest trivia about new robots whom come to replace " Bio Man " * be immersed into all new awesomeness content inside the magazine. Oh and the name of the book is called " TV Line " ( ทีวีไลน์ )

When they took the photo shoot he was a random robot in the crowd who stepped in at just the right time. His name is Steve and he works in sanitation.
