Its pretty cool, I'm glad people are making stuff like this. However much like Convoys trailer I've always found these parts of the original toys unnecessary and superfluous to needs.

Naw, I think those parts are just for gun mode for a way to attach the stock, if you notice it's still original Megs legs because it has those silver bars at the bottom of his legs.

Don't really think there is much difference on the legs, other than the added attachment connection on the back. Remember that black panel is ball jointed. The pics that made his leg more beefed up looks just like someone moved that panel around from the locked position. I tried with my Meg, and I can make mine just like that in that picture angle. So unfortunately, don't look like they improved much on the leg issue. I was hoping that they have a couple snap on parts for the thighs & legs that add more width. Doesn't look like there is any. And don't care too much for the added barrel or cannon mode. Sigh...

The goal was not to make a difference in look, it's only to add some weight and connect the stock to Megatron.

His legs look exactly the same as before only the extra parts have somewhere for the stock to attach. I'm sure any 'beefing' up is purely wishful thinking on behalf of the viewer.

aww thats too bad... If Megs had thicker legs.. even if they were attachments... it would make Megatron truely Perfect.. but I guess thats just being picky for what has been the best looking megatron thats come out.

im still surprised no one has come out with snap on parts for the inside lower legs and even the thighs to thicken them up...doesn't seem like it would be the most difficult thing in the world to do.

I just got the upgrade set today. It's pretty nice. The set is very faithful to G1 megatron's original stock and barrel. It comes with the barrel, stock, two replacement gun handle panels and some plastic bullets. The replacement panels and the stock butt are made out of metal. What you do is you take off rear gun handle panels and replace them with the metal parts. When the whole thing is put together on my mp-05, the gun mode is significantly heavier. The stock has a spring loaded meachanism to shoot the plastic bullets when you put all the parts into "particle cannon" mode or "bazooka" mode.
positives: good quality plastic. The metal parts give the original figure much needed heft. gun mode looks enormous now. packaging is nice. Comes in a plastic tray that is thinly lined with black felt.
negatives: The stock is made up of three parts. the gun handle connection, a middle part, and the butt. The stock parts connect to each other by pegs. One peg on mine doesn't line up right due to a QC error so the butt is never flush with the rest of the stock. Not a big deal in my opinion though
Overall, I'm happy with my purchase and for anyone who wants to complete their megatron gun mode as badly as I did, I would recommend it! Otherwise, wait another 2 years for the inevitable takara "perfect edition" megatron.

I know. You would have thought its a no-brainer, and would have implemented in this set in the get go. With those snap on pieces added, I'll buy a set for sure. Even better, a gimmick-less smaller size Fusion Canon that weights a lot less. So it won't pose much balancing issue on the figure. How hard is making that?! But for now, having the metal panels alone is just not quite enough, especially when the attachment on those leg panels aren't that strong to begin with. Wonder how the extra weight affects the ball joint and the attachment pegs to lock the panel in place.
