Oh man, you guys a the best. Thanks for all the positive reinforcement. I am beginning to get comfortable with the discoloration somewhat, thanks to all the optimistic ways of looking at it.
I just received my SOC Daitarn 3 renewal version in the mail today....but that's a whole other thread.

I think its a chemical reaction within the plastic,I bet if you sliced it in half youd see the same discoloration in the plastic.Check out all the star wars Stormtroopers from back in the day, they are all yellow, sometimes just teh arms and legs, other times the whole toy,I think it happens with age from within.

Well, I just got home and did a quick check of my 13R.... yep, it's now the same as Clayrebel's and OptimusprimeSG , the plastic has yellowed(?). Admittedly, the last time I checked it was like 5 years ago.
I've been careful storing it too, up until last year, it was always in one of the cooler places in my house. All boxed up. I had to move some stuff around to make room but it was still relatively in a cool, dark area of the house, not exposed to any real heat or light. I am the original owner.
Plus, my original Gx13 is stored right next to it and it is still in excellent condition.
I guess it's really the plastic they used. Too bad. I guess Bandai used a different grade of plastic for the GX13R run. I wouldn't be surprised if everyone's 13R has the same problems at this point.

I believe it is the plastic they used since even with proper storing, the item still ended up yellow.
again it does not look too bad. in fact it looks more weathered than it originally was. so i pretty like it actually. =)

Gold, thanks so much for taking the time to check yours. I really appreciate that. Although I am more at rest knowing its the quality of plastic, I wished Bandai used higher quality material, especially for a limited run item. I think only 500 made? But due to everyone's positive comments, I am more comfortable with this "weathered" look

Yeah. If I had not known it was yellowing I would have totally thought it was intentional!!!

Yes officially limited to 500 pieces but there were supposedly backdoor units made from the same factories. No idea if there's a way to tell which is which or if there are even any differences at all.

Wow, that is the first time I've seen the discoloration on a regular one.

Rob3880, I edited your post so the image pops up, hope that's ok. Clayrebel, yes, yellowing happens on the regular one as well. But I think I've only seen it happen once, over at the Toysdaily forums. This is the second time I've seen it happen. Sigh.. guess nothing lasts forever. Gold

Long time ago I've bought a 2nd dancougar for $80 because of the yellowing parts, mostly on the wings, open it and dip it in peroxide, 12% i think, put it under the sun for 2 days, and it recovers, sold it back for $150. Wings, arms and thigh will yellowed over time, but my 1st dancouga dont have this problem, and been displayed for nearly 3 years now

Good thing about this soc is its easy to take it apart to repaint or repair because of the screw placement and no snap on parts

Oddly enough, I tried that hydrogen peroxide trick on my spare USS Flagg, it turned perfect, but the plastic yellowed again in less than a year.
I don't know if this was because I didn't soak it long enough (only did it for 3 days, or until it turned white), or if it was because I didn't air it out enough after the soak? It turned yellow again while stored in an oversized box.

Well I've allready sold my gx13, dont know wether it turned back to yellow or not, maybe once the plastic is yellowed, it will be like that again. So the last choice is just to repaint them.

I didn't take a photo, but my normal version started yellowing as well. I noticed it about 7 years ago, while I was still in Korea.

You know, I don't really mind it at all. I kinda like the tan pieces.. It really just looks like it was painted that way.. Plus, I only paid $100. for mine a few months ago so I can't complain too much. I'm sure and un-yellowed one would've cost me more than double. Definitely going to get the Sentinel one when it comes out too.. Great looking little Dancouga, which will scale nicely next to SoC Raideen, Gaiking, Grendizer, and other Super Robots in that scale. Best of both worlds.
