Tried my hand at a little digibashing (with MS Paint, sorry for crappy job) Original Pic: Modified Pic: Flipped the Badcube image so they are more or less facing the same way... I made the torso less wide and lengthened it a bit. Also made the legs a little shorter so they're less "twiggy" and got rid of that foot gap. To me, it seems like the G1 cartoon has a little more slender upper body if you look at it face on, but thicker if you look at it from the side. Both Omni and Badcube looks too flat (if looking from the side) and too wide (if looking from the front). Anyway, Badcube could potentially change the proportions easier since they have 2 separate tops of the car, one that is for vehicle mode and seems to get folded up as part of the back in robot mode, and the "faux" one used in robot mode.

Allright, here's a complete set of 3P Insectrio protorype to choose from: c/o Andrea "cheem the rup" All 3 versions are interesting for many reasons : design, engineering, etc. Each Badcube releases are always a surprise for me. Wardog is on top ! Occular Max designs are in a specific aesthetic : long curved legs, thin waist, etc, specific from the late 70s Japanese designs. FT stick to their cube shaped minimalist design (which I like a lot). This is exciting ! I am more impressed by those creations than any official releases. We have our own market and creations guys ! I jumped in this one by working with MMC and I will push more and harder in 3rd P community.

I just bought Wardog from a local retailer, I hope he comes in the next few days - there's a big national holiday coming up which the country practically shuts down for about a week or two. I gotta agree with you - all three sets from the different manufacturers all have their different pluses or minuses. The design that caught my fancy the most right now is definitely FT's. Badcube's designs are quirky as they are chunkier compared to the rest, but as Vangelus has shown in his video review, their transformation is really awesome. OX's robot modes are comparable to FT's, but I slightly like FT's insect modes better - those insect legs makes them a winner for me. Here's a picture comparing the altmodes which I have briefly photoshopped:

Yeah! I want my Cyclonus to be as big as Ultra Magnus! I hope that guy has small hand too, so it's actually bigger than we think!
XTB should have clear parts for the cockpit, tho...

These catched my eyes : MMC Carnifex / Overlord (it's a leader class and can match MPs) And THIS from Maketoys : I am sure it will be more balanced than Apolyion. Hips, gap, torso, altmode canon vs main body...) About Perfection Series Sphinx from Occular Max, I just can tell ingineering is very impressive and there are a ton of details (paint apps + decals).

Paik for Life reviews MMC Not-Mirage!
What a beautiful figure! It's going to be a very tall order for Takara Tomy to trump MMC's effort here.
Notes: Faithful sculpting and accurate alt-mode? Check! Holographic driver? Check! Exceptional articulation? Check! Diecast parts? Check! Hilarious sponsor brands? Check!

Articulations offer a lot of movement range. The "clavicle" (which HASTAK never does) offer nice posings.

I'm in for the MT MP figures and that Overlord looks sweet. Still not sure about Mirage though, he could have used a bit more design flair like official MP's have. Still looks good though, just maybe a little to much cartoon accurate not enough toy or comic design elements. Honestly I've never been a huge fan of the Ox designs.
