My exact sentiment with anime characters that have white limbs, but are given silver or chrome in figure form. BLAH! (Pukes) }|

in my opinion i think the silver give the robot much realistic looks unless the colors wont match if you see the GX-43 Daimos white was the better choice because the silver will be awful but again i think its a matter of personal taste

I generally like silver as a nice neutral color for the metal areas often represented as white in the anime and Manga. But I am more and more coming to hate the chrome. Especially the overdone leg chrome which always makes the figure look too toy like and never ever wears or ages well. Not to mention being near impossible to clean or restore once it starts to tarnish or go badly.

I think if the white on an anime is supposed to represent metal or chrome, it should be done silver. If these robots were real, tbeir metal would never gleam like a small ro ot toy does. It would appear silver due to their size like those planes that have polished sheet metal, they look silver. But using straight up chrome in large areas looks meh. Small accents maybe. Reideen to me is the only one that looks normal with white. When I see white in anime, I associate that with being metal color in real life.

I disagree on the white for chrome in the anime. When white is used in a robot, it looks a little different than the white used in a sword. Also, why give the robots other colors like black, blue, red, green, yellow, but leave parts of it chrome or silver? Doesn't mix aesthetically. }D

i kinda didnt like white on metal parts. it looks more like those rubber gashapon robots to me. if theres an option or variant between white and silver/chrome. i usually go with silver/chrome. Silver or chrome parts, to me, best represents the term chogokin. Its like.. "u dont have to touch it to know it." hehehe but ofcourse, it always depends on anyone's preference.

I think I will paint my Hulk figures in blue, since I like blue more than green. Yeah, I know Hulk is green everywhere, but I like blue better. }D

"anime accurate" lol. that term itself is so subjective. those characters often looked somewhat different from episode to episode. I've also read numerous times that the silver/chrome effect was shown as white in early anime. so to me, they're accurate as is.

That is what you believe, then by all means it has to be true... in your own mind. Go get your eyes checked, you are loosing color perception. White is white in this universe and the next. Nothing subjective about it. And nowhere has it been said that anime white meant to be chrome or silver, nowhere. And just to save you the trouble, Mazinger figures have been made with white, dilver, chrome, blue, and black limbs and waist. What remsins contant is that in the anime they are always white, or light grey at the most in the OVAs. }D

writing snarky comments and having temper tantrums don't make your point any stronger. just for the record.
I just searched quickly and found this on wiki re: mazinger z' colors.
"The main colours are always black (torso, hips, shoulders, sometimes limbs), white ("steel colored") (waist and limbs, with slight variations towards light shades of yellow and blue tones depending on the version), very dark blue or almost black, depending on the depiction (face, limbs) and red (chest plate and flying devices). "
pay attention to: white with "steel colored" in parentheses.
steel, for what I've always seen is metallic grey, silver, or even chrome like in color.
even white steel is still the same.
feel free to point me in the right direction if I'm wrong. thanks.

For the record, you started the smart comments, and I don't get angry when I'm right. I was just trying yo help you out. Wikipedia is one of those places that are as accurate as the people that enter the info, just so you know. I suggest you go watch the series and put it in perspective as how it would really look if the character was a figure. Don't add anything else to it. Just use what you see on the screen. }D

"but, but, you started" .... lol
do you have any links to what the original Designers intended for the colors to be, since you're disregarding wiki?
usually if your argument is to denounce something, you provide evidence of your own to further your cause.
