And for Maketoys too, remember, they plan to release their own line of seekers.
Aren't fat kneecaps lineart accurate?

Yup it's cartoon accurate, the Coneheads had fat lower legs to make them look more different then the original 3 Seekers. All these releases will kill off a lot of the smaller 3rd party companies. Some may prefer 3rd party stuff but in the end Takara/Hasbro probably sell to ten times the fanbase then a 3rd party company does at cheaper prices and at a lot more places to buy.

When it comes to official vs 3P in terms of MP's, IMO it only wins because it's cheaper. What official releases does is it kills the aftermarket prices for 3P stuff. So for people that wanted to sell off their Igear coneheads, their opportunity to cash out is now pretty much gone. 3P can still compete and still market them to collector base that doesn't like a straight cartoon accurate design. The example I alway go to is official MP Ironhide. Yeah, there is an official one but a lot of collector don't necessary want the official one.
I rarely buy the Takara MP's. Hasbro versions are usually way cheaper, so I wait for those. Coneheads were never really characters I wanted but like Hasbros MP Starscream, should I see one at the $50-60 price, I may consider it. Still waiting for Hasbro to do MP Magnus, I know it will happen. I like Magnus, just not enough to drop $160+ on it. Hasbro, when they decide to do it will likely be $120 and less.
Edit: I knew that there was a reissue on MP Magnus. Just placed and order for one at amiami. About 112-120$ depending on what the currency converts at when it releases. Not sure what the shipping is on that. Hopefully not over $30. I am okay with spending a little bit more, but not at the crazy prices I saw prior to the reissue. At toy shows and like BBTS, it was around $180-200. Way too much.

Yup but it's not the price but the availability as far as I know it's already sold out since it's limited to 2000. We may be able to get one through other means but it will cost you.
Personally I'm happy with my igear versions which aren't so cartoon accurate.

There is a quantity of pieces with defaults for sale... Edit: I am reffering to the TT MP Thundercracker.
Agree with Chen, Igear versions suit well and MT will have some cool design as a great alternative.

Posted price is 15,984 yen. That's not a "terrible" price but I am more disappointed that only 2000 are being made. Also that all of these may be exclusives.

Here's hoping for a Hasbro version but I wouldn't hold my breath.

If pattern is anything, this toy will be mass-produced if you miss out in the initial hype of the 2000 limited edition version. Takara is not stupid enough to limit this and their sales to just 2000. I am pretty sure you'll get a reissue (i.e. Ultra Magnus, Sideswipe, and etc. have all been reissued to-date).

Ok. Judging from the limited office release, there is still hope for 3rd Party to release their own versions of the coneheads.

Are you guys sure the 2000 quantity isn't just for a retailer (like it was for takara tomy mall with the blue bluestreak)? I am sure that they will pump these out in normal quantities.
Just like with the classics/generations seekers, they know better than to hold characters like this back.

it's weird but Macross has made me HATE the feet design of Transformers Seekers.

Anyone know when ToyMehca's version will be released? I'm liking their design the best. I know it's not cartoon accurate, and they just re-used the MP-11 mold, but they seem to capture the "proportions" better.
This Takara ramjet, although cartoon accurate, I feel it doesn't translate well in 3D. Something is just...off putting.
