Even if the SOC line ends, I will still have lots to collect. The really rare ones (I think I have over half of them) and I may even start acquiring all of the black and white releases (I only have one).

nikodiablo.... Whoa! I haven't even considered the age thing. You mean, when we are 80, no one would care/buy our vintage SOCs? Bad investment? Yes absolutely. because these 30-40 year olds (like us now) with lots of moolah to burn in the future are in no way can relate with these chogokins.. what they are watching right now as kids are Nicks, CN, One pieces, narutos, marvel/DCs, Transformers (bayverse, animated, rid,etc..) and other modern stuffs.. these japanese super robots (except a revived new mazinger anime) are non-existent in mainstream media right now.

Just wanted to chime in that I fully agree. I've guessed that older (in other words, us) collectors will find it harder to find nostalgic toys as manufacturers begin to focus on the younger demographic. I'm still in denial though, and hope Bandai SOC will continue to service us fans. I mean, there are still so many robots that we still can recognize that are no made yet; one only has to look to the SRW games from Banpresto, to see the potential of even more robots to be gokinized.

not suer how to phrase this... when the SOC line first started I got every single release. After some years had passed I trimmed my collection down. I suppose that early on I was just caught up in the excitement of having these great looking figures in my collection. As of right now for my SOC collections is down to Mazinger and related characters as well as all the Getter figures The SRC line became a more viable option for awhile based on price, availability, and storage space needs. Even that line has fizzled at least for me. On the plus side its allowed my to venture into other toy lines. Edit:keeping whats left.

Will... let me know if you want to sell all of your SoCs. I don't even care if it's bad investment.. I tried to collect some hottoys and find out that there's some rubber deterioration on one!! you can't keep that sh!# forever or for at least 30 years. same thing with any toy you buy plastic, PVC etc..... nothing last forever. buy them because you love them and enjoy them. put them in a nice display not in their packages. or save your money for something else more useful

. yes i agree.. buy them coz u want to display them... to play with them.. life is short. but lets us admit.. we cant be with them forever.. we have to accept that. so its just normal for some to think what happens to them when the time comes.. if these toys will be of use or value for those we will left behind. we have to consider that. whether we like or not. thats why some of us when streamlining toys.. choose whats to keep or not,, what to sell or not coz we also consider future value. some also consider value regarding whats easy to sell incase we need emergency funds. ofcourse whats really important is that u buy what will make u happy.

i'll be fine if the line ends, afterall, my cabinets are almost full haha well, actually, it will definitly a loss to the community if the line did ends. Nobody makes super robots like bandai's soc these days and i dont see many manufacturers out there, capable of filling the void.

I agree with you Revolver. Some SoC releases are not bad at all and already classics. You can't go wrong with a an excellent engineering and good quality. mecha-mecha Definitly a loss. especially for someone like me why just started collection from this line. The reason I choose Soul of Chogokin over so many lines is for 3 reasons.. not very expensive, quality and good engineering. Basically you get what you pay for.

I guess one of the reasons why I collect these really expensive robots is because my family couldn't afford to get them for me when I was a kid. I am over compensating these days by getting as many Soul of Chogokin robots that I can to fill the void missing in my childhood. I hope that I would never have to sell my collection. However, if there ever comes a time that I must part with my beloved collection, then the lucky buyers will not just acquire my robots.... A lot of love will also be a part of the purchase. This is why I don't mind buying second hand SOCs. I know that they have been loved

I think it's also the spirit itself : SOC line is a recall of old series, means no marketing business plan pushed by a serie airing on tv. The trial came from General Franky. GGG is also a "modern demand". But robots are few in new TV shows. Agree totally, the 40+ years old have new priorities too I just turned 40 last month and I know for me, my priorities have changed especially as of late. I cancelled all my 2016 preorders for all modern toys (Hot Toys, Transformers, to DX Great Mazinger Z). Much of this was due to me wanting to downsize my hoarded collection of over 25 years of various brands. I'm aiming to "lean" out my collection to the essentials and grail pieces only. But should a SOC Albegas be announced any time this year, I will be first to come out of the wood works and buy one. lol

It's funny how I am in my 40s and this is the most toys I've ever had.

My wife and my mother scowl at my office where all my toys are. The shear volume overwhelms them.

Well for now just buying the stuff I REALLY want or familiar with. no preorderes unless it is really necessary. And I know at some point I'm gonna stop collecting for good. I was just thinking about the other day. there will be always something new and better than the one you have... so just be happy for what you have really.
Kids or family then my toys.

Maybe we'll see something when Bandai does its Wonderfest in Feb. But I wouldn't get my hopes up.
Man I miss the old days when we would get info from Dengki Magazine scans on upcoming SOCs (blueprints and such), that's a thing of the past now, now that they've dropped print media and gone digital.. sigh...

I would have no problem with the SoC line closing down in 2 or 3 years... I have no place left to store them anyway.
Only problem is I'd like to have a complete lineup of all classic robots before closing my collection, at least from the first 10 years of robot anime (1972-1981).
Some of them are still totally missing in diecast form (Astroganger, Dai Apolon, 3 robots from Blocker Gundan IV Machine Blaster, Mechander Robo), and for some I'd really like a better model (for example, Daikengo from Evolution Toy is really sub-par).

No SOC in 2016?
I need it to go out with a bang if it indeed is closing shop. Come on Bandai! I vote for Voltron! How cool would that be for a swan song....
I hope i spoke too soon
