This topic may have been addressed already.... What is going on? Bandai has not had single SOC releases since the 90s. 2014 had 5 SOC releases. I just noticed because it's around Christmastime and I barely have any SOCs under the tree. I think that I will only get GX-69 Goldymarg (the only 2015 release) and GX-09SS Minerva X (2009 release. I am so excited to finally have this. Could this be my most rare item?). In a nutshell, I don't mind the slowing down of the releases. I don't have room in my two Ikea glass shelves anymore. And I know that I will get the DX Great Mazinger for my birthday soon (I truly don't know where/how I will display this robot.... I love our First World problems

Whatever the deal is it isn't limited to SOC's. Bandai seems to have trimmed back or limited new releases in a lot of lines for 2015, falling back on recolers and re-issues in many cases. SOC, SH Monsterart, SRC, Ultra Act, and a few sub lines of SH Figuarts (while others are roaring along).

But couldnt they take a pity on me and put 1/100th of Gundam resource to Super Robot Chogokin?

Not really sure what you mean, but there were at least three SOCS (and one re-release) released in 2015:
-- GX-31V 40th-Anniv -- GX-34R Gunbuster -- GX-68 re-issue -- GX-69 GoldyMarg

I actually don't mind the lack of releases. As I mentioned above, I don't have any more room to display additional SOCs. Bandai can pick up the pace after we get a bigger place In the mean time, I can play catch up on rare pieces like Combattler V's Nambara Base

treatment... I meant new robots and not re-releases or recolors. Oh, that's what you mean. Well, then, 2014 only had two actual SOCs released (GX-66 and GX-68). GX-65 is a recolor, and both Arcadia and Yamato-2199 doesn't count since they ain't robots...

Lejam.... I suggested that before too. I wouldn't mind having that happen. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the SOC line. As I mentioned before, I just don't have room to display them right now. Bandai can stop now and resume when we have a bigger space

Haha I agree totally. I bought the add-on for SOC GGG without knowing what I was doing... Like a chicken reflex. Buy it button are corn and our fingers are beaks. I don't know where I can go. Money count, space need to be here, but living in a large space means for happiness, familly, kids. Collecting is going different for me, too much things, gears. Sometimes it's like passing aside essential in life, right ? And because I have both feet now in toy industry, it sounds different, creating and making is priority than collecting. There are alot of 3p Transformers I want to get, but working on OX Line gives me enough satisfaction you know... Ok back to topic : if I can still cruise in spending in SOC line, I will probably stop at GX-100, as a great achievement and goal.

Good milestone, I think.

Well, seeing as how the Popy line finally ended without fanfare, I can see the SOC line going the same way. Personally I don't see it hitting Gx-100.
For me the real casualty here is the SRC line, it had so much potential, then the line just sputtered, what with so many reveals that never saw light of day ever again (SRX Team! Nooooo...) at this point I wouldn't be surprised if Godannar and Gravion bite the dust like the others. Such a shame.

I think this may have something to do with the age group of the gokin collecting enthusiast? I just turned 41, and even though I'm buying more collectible than when I originally started (more disposable income), I have felt exactly like Lejam, that I buy things on autopilot, and not because I'm excited at the prospect of new robot toys - like say, in 2006 when SOC Voltes was originally released. Although I had less income back then, I followed news about new SOC releases religiously, and since I had to make select purchases because my funding was limited, those purchases felt more special. Finding rare things and buying things on discounts were elating experiences back then. Nowadays, I buy things because I can, and that takes the excitement from the toys out a lot. I have been hoarding since 2010, meaning I haven't opened 95% of the toys I bought since then (no, I'm not planning to be an MISB only collector), but after I finished with the construction of my house recently, I just feel that there are other priorities in my life that I also need to take care of (still doesn't stop me from buying things on impulse, apparently - but the feel is totally different).
Perhaps Bandai has also realized that the main gokin collecting group who has the expendable income has matured and cut down on their collecting habits, moved on to other priorities, and hence Bandai decides to shift their effort elsewhere? Note that although our community is large, their main target audience would still be the collectors in Japan. Maybe there has been a recent shift in the collecting habits in Japan that steers Bandai to reduce their production of the SOC line and focus on other lines that are still gathering followers - like the Gundam line for instance. Even the SRC line only has Mazinger repaints for the next release...
However, my theory certainly doesn't fit the fact that companies like Sentinel, Evolution Toys, and new upstart companies from Hong Kong are willing to keep producing rendition of toys from classic robot shows if the gokin collecting world is indeed moving into other priorities in life and cutting down purchase on collectible toys.

I think it's also the spirit itself : SOC line is a recall of old series, means no marketing business plan pushed by a serie airing on tv. The trial came from General Franky. GGG is also a "modern demand". But robots are few in new TV shows. Agree totally, the 40+ years old have new priorities too

nikodiablo.... Whoa! I haven't even considered the age thing. You mean, when we are 80, no one would care/buy our vintage SOCs? Bad investment?
