Good day all of you.
I started today placing my collection back in my display case, after 5 years in those boxes.
When I inspected my Fewture Models Ex Gohkin Getter 2, I noticed in the back the paint started to crack in some area. It look like a tortoise shell.
I know that in order to perfectly fix it, a paint job is required. (Assuming I can get the pectect paint for it)
My thought how to stop it from degrading was to apply a thin coat of nail polish. (Not mine but my girlfriend) That would seal the paint.
Any thought on that particular problem? I know Fewture always had QC issue with the paint on various model, and it's not that bad, but a quick fix could help.
Thanks

Got the same thing on mine, but I thought it looked good and left it like that. It surely made its resale value drop big time, but the original Getter quatuor are probably the last figures from my collection I'd sell, so I don't really care. I'll eventually seal the crack with some clear coat though, to prevent rust and chipping.

What clear coat will you apply?
Will nail polish (clear) be enough?

It happened on mine too..i bought around 2007 it the first issued Getter 2...about a year ago when I was clean my display cabinet and take a closer look at the back of getter 2 to my surprise, I notice the white paint crack.. Like dry mud crack under the hot sun..i use Tamiya modelling white paint and do a multi coat..it cover very well, till now still looks good I have been collecting Fewture stuff.. Only until shin Getter the paint job start getting better.. Those release before shin Getter way below Bandai standard...

Seems like a QC many of us had.
Did the paint match the original one?
On mine the white and orange part have issue. The white one is cracked, while the orange part I can see tiny line in the orange paint, but it has not cracked yet.
Today I will use nail polish clear top coat on the back of the Getter so seal the paint. It will prevent future damage.

if i recall correctly the first release of Getter Robo trio had alot of QCs, paint, easily broken parts
the repaint version was much better even with the falling parts
i guess nail polish will do the trick

I did that this morning.
Actually I'm good with the result. Since the paint cracked was not that bad, and it's at the back of the robot, now it's sealed with a clear coat. It won't take more damage from time.

What clear coat will you apply? Will nail polish (clear) be enough? I haven't looking into it yet, but I'll probably just fill the cracks with modelling clear laquer.

Nail polish did the trick well. I'll try to update with a picture when possible

I'm sure it does the job just fine for now, but how long will it last? That would be my worry with nail polish. I'd think that since it's not meant to stay permanently on nails, its organic ingredients might start degrading in the short to medium term. But I really don't know. I'm not exactly an expert in cosmetics.

As long as the crack remains sealed it's ok with me. I think it will last long, because unlike nails, my robot are not exposed to heat, and won't be in contact with anything.
