Hello Gang i have a question for the experts, does keeping Gokins in their boxes for a long time damage them ? i really dont have a space in my old cabinet and both Ikea or shops that build cabinet are insanely far from me (the good places at least) so i end up storing more and more boxes, i dont want to open up a figure one day to find out the paint is gone or it got damage somehow, i rather let it collect dust on my desk

Actually, it will all depends of the quality of the toys itself.
I'm no expert, but my collection has been stored away in their boxes for the last 5 years. Yes 5 years stored in a basement. Basement was heated, so humidity was not a problem.
Lastly I put my collection on display, all the robot I have are exactly how they were when stored.
Only exceptions are my Fewture Ex Gohkin. The paint job on the 1st edition were made poorly, so I now see small crack on the paint. And I noticed that on my Mazinger too, on the breast plate. But I don't think it as anything to do with the storage, it was simply a faulty paint job at the beginning.
If the toys are in vinyl, they may come sticky a bit. This is normal there is something in the plastic that is getting out. Clean with warm water and mild soap.
Hope this help.

I think in your case it's fine. I mean I know you will get something soon for a display so no problems.
I would just check on the boxes and make sure everything is ok like move everything around, check on the rubber etc.. especially with old models.
Like I told you before, man. get 2 or 1 detolf just for now and use that strip I told you about to cover all the gaps and use some lights and you ready to go. You can make a trip to Ikea in the mornings with your family or friends, and have launch there so it's fun. It's 2 hours from where I live.
Good luck (:

Leaving a toy sealed in it's original packaging does have its risks. I once bought an old, but factory sealed CM's Corporation Tetsukyojin Galien and it came out of the box with a broken arm! And i suppose it also depends on your local weather, i live in a high humidity country, and when i open my older toys, you can see molds start forming in the internal packaging, very common with fewture gokins. And not forgetting toys that comes with rubber tracks, which tends to harden and turn brittle over time. but having say that, i still keep a heap of my toys misb

Also, for vintage - be careful of accessories and figures etc made of rubber. They can have a reaction with the styrofoam and melt through it.
Examples of this are the Clint and Daigo figures on DX Gordian/Gardian the figures that come with the Tomy Lensman vehicles, etc.
I take toys like this and either put those rubber figures and accessories in plastic wrap or wax paper, then I put them in the large accessory tray area.
I have also never had a vintage plastic/diecast toy that I owned have any paint or plastic discoloration from being in the foam.
Toys I got from other owners have had issues though (already damaged when I bought them), and I attribute it to the previous owners storing the toys in light, heat, sever temperature fluctuations, or poor humidity/moisture conditions.
