I got into the SRC through videos like Vangelus,Type V3, and my love for mecha anime. My first and only SRC thus far is Shin Getter 1 and I intend on getting other ones to fill my shelf, preferably ones from GaoGaiGar. How about you ?

Oh my, an origin story.. alright, I'll try to be brief. I was, and still am (somewhat) a One Piece fan. One day, while browsing through the internet, I found out about SoC GX-63 General Franky. And thus, I discovered both the world of super robots and the Soul of Chogokin line at the same time. I spent some weeks learning more about the toy line. And in the process, I slowly started learning more about super robots, specifically the classics, from Mazinger Z to the mid-80's ones. I eventually bought a GX-63, my first robot-related buy. In retrospective though, discovering super robots through Franky Shogun is like discovering super heroes through Deadpool not the best choice, right? I mean, One Piece is not even a robot show, it just has 1 mecha in it and it's just meant to be a parody of other super robots. But honestly, I think in my case it was the only possible way for me to know about and start this hobby. Back then, if anyone had come to me and mentioned Goldrake (that's how people call Grendizer over here) or Mazinga Z, I'd have probably stopped caring about the conversation, dissing them as some old, weird characters from an era that only my father could be familiar with. I didn't even know they were robots, for crying out loud. But thanks to One Piece and General Franky, I was introduced to them gradually. First, the notion, what a Japanese super robot was, what those words stood for. Videos on Youtube allowed me to learn and memorize more of them, the Mazingers, the Getters, the Romantic series, the Muteki trilogy, Go Nagai and Tomino's works, the different eras the genre went through.. and after a while, I found this forum. And after some more time, I became a member. And here I am now. GX-01 was my second SoC, followed by a GX-01R 40th anniversary edition. In between those 2 purchases I also got a regular SRC Mazinger Z. I also got some other robots, like the ZPRO-01 Jeeg, but those were not made by Bandai so.. there. Question answered, hehe.

Ah...
I used to like Japanese robots when I was growing up as a kid. We didn't really have those cartoons on local TV, but I did like those robot toys, stickers and knock-offs that was readily available. Heck, I even pestered my dad to buy me a couple of those diecast ones.
Fast forward 20 years later. I was clearing out my storeroom and found my old Clover DX-Gundam with G-Fighter. Still had the box, but was in total disrepair and with missing and broken parts. I advertised it on some local auction site for $20 just to make space, but it went on to sell for over a couple hundred bucks. Curious, I went on to find out more and discovered SOC.
Bought my first shiny one (GX-09MA Minerva X), got hooked onto it, and the rest is history. Proud owner of over 40 SOCs and gokins now, and all stemmed from actually trying to get rid of one.
One robot which I had (it's lost now), but am now hoping to have (hopefully a remodel as well), MicroRobot V.

I think it was bandai's intent to crossover one piece fans with super robot toys by releasing general franky as a SOC. I'm glad to see new fans coming in because of it! Bandai is quite the marketing wiz.
As for me, I've always loved super robots since childhood, but was not aware of the SOC line until a visit in Nakano Tokyo many years ago. I got my first one there and was hooked ever since. Then I found RJ, HLJ, and it was all downhill!

Me, i always loved Mazinger Z. It aired in Korea when i was a wee lad......All the kids knew how to draw him out of memory. I did hVe few Shogun Warriors when i was a kid never seriously collected. Then i got indruced to Chogokin while in my 30s at work! Some of my coworkers were avid toy collector and i got involved just like i got into video games in my 30s too.
My first SOC GX - 07. I was shocked at the quality when i first got it at the work place. A museum piece, an art, Professional quality id say, while admiring while smoking in the work place court yard at night....ah! After around 40 piece later and many many years later, i say with my full conviction, the SRC IS the gold standard for any and all action figures go by.

I suffer from the "It's too expensive syndrome" Thats when I always asked my mom to buy me Godaikins back in the 80's and her response was "its too expensive". Fast forward to 1997 when adulthood and a well paying job kicked in and I started to collect Gundam models. I bought my first SOC in 2003 which was the GX-01R and have been collecting since.

Haha, when my mother tries to give me money gift which i think is too much for her budget, i tell her im just going to blow it all on robots anyway. That stops her on her track and be much more reasonable lol. When She asks how much are the robots, i tell her its $500 a pop....
Ah the white lies a spawn...

Cause chogokin are awesome. Was collecting toy figures, model kits and statues prior to gokin collecting. Didn't understand why these robot figure cost so much until I purchased one. Started SOC collecting somewhere in 2005. Got the GX-01R for two reason. First one being I wanted to get the same robots that was featured in the super robot museum trading figure set. And second reason was that MazingerZ was the most affordable of the six characters featured in the trading figure set. Anyway, the price was equated to worth, and the satisfaction I got was what kept me interested. It's was really a good bang for the buck. The metal content, I previously have not own anything with this amount of metal. And the attention to details, paint quality, accessories etc... Had my first experience with SOC been bad, like if I felt ripped off, I probably never joined this forum or cared for super robots. But the SOC line made great collectibles and it continue with a more wallet friendly alternative with the SRC line. That's how I got into collection these thing.
The last two SOC are Gaogaigar related if I remember correctly. I hope it continues into this direction and produce more robots from the 90's era which is more to my liking.

i was into super robots more than anything as a child watching Mazinger z, Grendizer, Tetsujin 28 (GX-44) Astroganger, Aizenbo, Voltron, Combattler V, Daimos and MM Power Rangers, i just loved the idea of piloting a super robot, and i was collecting some of robots buts not the ones i really wanted since we didn't have them in my country we only had some fine bootlegs robots i think i might only have 3 or 4 that are legit lol however 10 years later in late 2010 i was wondering what happened at the end of Mazinger Z (the show stopped at episode 26 ) so i was looking for it in youtube and then i found Charles (OptimusPrimeSG) review for the GX-45 i was like they STILL MAKE THIS OMG I MUST BUY SOME and here the door the of collecting game opened up ones again and i couldn't be happier these diecast figures are best joy i have its more like we are collecting our childhood again

In 2000, my sister and I were walking around a mall and bumped into a store that had the GX-02 Great Mazinger on display. My sister saw the same look as I had as a kid and immediately purchased my very first Soul of Chogokin. She knew that it would be a really special gift because growing up, we could not afford these toys. Since then, I have been collecting the SOC line. Yep, I have been hoarding, reliving the ideal version of my childhood. I have GX-01 to 69, color version (I only have one black and white, the GX-03). I also have a number of the rare SOCs (I recently got the GX-50 Nanbara base and the GX-09SS Minerva X Shining Star) and almost all of the SPEC line (including some of the limited edition ones). I only acquire Soul of Chogokin robots. I have only strayed once and got the DX Aquarion. I love the focus of my collection.... Saves me a lot of money and space

As a kid i only watched a few super robot anime like daimos , voltron, transformers, and getter robo, always been interested by transforming or combining robots but never imagined myself as a collector. I only known Most of the SR and gundams since i started playing SRW games, untill few years back the SRC maz came out. Decided to collect a few, and SRC only, but some how end up collecting nearly 300 type of SR in 2 years !! From src to soc to fewture and some other brands.. So after years of collecting i sold nearly half of it and decided to collect what i really like and love only.. not defined by brands, but mostly only soc and gundam lol

I grew up watching Mazinger Z, Gaiking, Starzinger, Jeeg and Gakeen. Watching Pacific Rim awoke the inner child in me and my interest in Super Robots. So I went to Amazon.com and searched for Mainzer Z, looking for the anime on DVD, not for any toys or anything like that because I didn't even know they still made those. I couldn't believe my eyes, and my jaw dropped, when my search results listed the following: SOC GX-45 Shin Mazinger SOC GX-10 Boss Borot SOC GX-08 Aphrodai A SOC GX-25 Garada K7 SOC GX-26 Doublas M2 SOC GX-05R Daiku Maryu SOC GX-27 Gaiking CM's 35 Brave Gokin Jeeg CM's 17 Brave Gokin Gakeen I thought I was dreaming. I knew at that very moment that someday I would own these and more.
