Hi guys,
We are eventually going to move, but not in the near future. However, I want to get a head start. I don't want to rush packing my beloved collection when the time comes. Plus, I think that it would be neat to give some breathing room in my shelves, they are jam-packed with robots. Here are some of my questions.... Should I rewrap the robots in those small plastic bags that they came in? Should I completely get rid of all of the dust accumulation before I wrap them (my robots don't have a lot of dust because they are in glass cases)? This may seem like an obvious question but I am not planning on selling them. I will just re-display them for me after we move to our new place and I would not mind if they are not completely dust-free. I just don't want to spend a crazy amount of time packing and cleaning. Thanks in advance for answering my questions and please feel free to give me suggestions, I would truly appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Mazfan

1. Dust? Yes. Even if there is barely any dust, dust them. There are very small detail brushes with soft bristles that you can get at the auto parts store for your dashboard. Use those. Or small nylon bristle paintbrushes that have really soft bristles. Those will get in the joints/crevices. Lastly you could use microfiber cloth.
If you don't dust them, over time the dust settles on the figure and can actually become gummy/sticky and very difficult to remove.
2. Put them back in the bags? (I assume you mean the robots?) Yes, if they are going back into styrofoam, even for a month or two, bag them. Over time, we have seen what foam can do to some vintage materials, but it seems like modern styrofoam reacts with more things (paint/plastics, etc. nowadays).

Mr. Ginrai.... Wow, thank you very, very much for the advice. I will now definitely dust and bag my robots.

I have moved my collection to my present place once. I never repack them into their boxes as i was too lazy. All i did was to stack them in a shipper box, and most of them are left at their existing pose! Only a handful of delicate items are bubble wrap and thats about it. Although a point to note is, i transport my own items using my car and my new place is just 20 mins ride from my old, definitly no air freight required

mecha-mecha.... Wish our move will be a short distance. Hey guys.... About the boxes. Should I put something in between them? And should I stack them flat or horizontally? Thanks
