My only problem with the GX-04(S) is that he is so expensive like for a new one. Other than that I love it.

re: Grendizer
The SRC versions has a tiny head.
The SOC is nice and complete, but is quite ancient figures-tech now. Yet is being scalped at ludicrous high prices.
The Brave Gokin might be nice, but alot here in this forum seems to have QC-issues with it. It also has them huge Hulk-hands or something.
You just have to pick your poison.
Or maybe just wait it out if there's gonna be a DC version or a DX version.

Have the GX-04 original more than a decade now. Its good enough that I never feel like I need another Grendizer. It has its flaws and might be a bit dated, but it feels very complete with all the stuff it has and does.

For me the best Grendizer is the GX-04S. I own many Grendizer, event got the Daigokin, the Fewture Models.
It's an old model, not on par with today modern SOC, wich are far more articulated, but contains less die-cast.
But what is great about toy collecting, it's Art. There are no better then the others, each like his robot for a different reason!

But what is great about toy collecting, it's Art. There are no better then the others, each like his robot for a different reason! I agree with that. My love of chogokin is based on them being creations of functional art. The Mazinger and Great Maz are such iconic designs and have had such an impact on pop culture. As for Grendizer, thanks all for the feedback. After much consideration, I'm going for the anime SRC Grendizer. The pearl white grew on me and the reviews were great. I also think the white parts help differentiate Grendizer from Maz and Great Maz, defining him more as a separate and distinct piece. Now to find a GX-45 and deciding which Great Maz...

Now to find a GX-45 and deciding which Great Maz... there is Great Mazinger GX-02 & GX-02R. Obviously the 02 is the older one. try and pay more and get GX-02R. There's a new one I think faelon mentioned it befor it's the GX-02R TN2016 Ann. link

Does the GX-02R TN 2016 have rocket punch? I assume so, since it's predecessors did. Will the articulation be updated? What's a fair price? A pre-order on eBay is $150 and that's the cheap one.

Yes the rocket punch gimmick. Only difference is the color. dark blue with chrome for the GX-02R, and Metallic color for the TN ver. same accessories same everything. I bought mine for $160 or $170 while ago. more pictures.

I'm very late to the collecting party like 15-20 years late...actually just started collecting less than 3 months ago. I started out with SRC Grendizer then opportunity came up to get GX-04s from fellow collector. Once I put that whole set together....had big smile afterwards...it's awesome!

Thanks all. I've decided on my holy trinity!
SRC anime Grendizer w/spazer, new ($120 w/shipping) - ordered. GX-45 shin Mazinger, used ($100 with shipping) - ordered. GX-02R TN 2016 Great Mazinger, preorder ($150 with shipping) - in process.
They will join their elder Vintage 5" popy Great Mazinger. Now onto Getter Robo and Black Getter....

These are amazing! First edition popy? What name do I search for if want to find them? I haven't run across these yet although I'm sure the price is high. Beautiful pieces.

I got my SRC anime Grendizer with spazer (thanks coldbreaker!) and it was definitely the right one to get. The pearl white is awesome and makes a stark contrast to the silver of the Mazingers. I also received the GX-45 Maz and it's also a beauty. However, the jet scrander and belt fall off easily. It clicks on but if you move Maz it falls off. The belt unlocks easily and the insert in the back doesn't help either. Is this normal for the GX-45?

The only one that stays on well is the SRC. And that's because it cheats. The belt is separate from the Scrander. So the belt moves with the abdomen, the backpack with the torso.

Good to know. Is there anything to be done about it? Or basically it's there for posing and nothing more.

Good to know. Is there anything to be done about it? Or basically it's there for posing and nothing more. For the GX-70 I am displaying with scrander on but no belt. I know it is not Anime or Manga correct but the belt has already left one slight blemish and I will have no more. I like the way it looks even more so than with the belt on. You can see in this pic two small blemishes left by the belt on the missile panel and just to the lower left of the panel. They weren't there before putting the belt on. At least the belt does close completely.

So the belt moves with the abdomen, the backpack with the torso. My scrander without the belt stays attached very well to the GX-70. I can pick him up by it and give it a shake and no worse for wear. Also my GX-70 can look as far left or right as I can crane my neck, he just needs to be looking a little bit down to clear the cowling on the back of his helmeted head.
