If youre getting a Fewture Getter 1, its best to get the Black Getter and rest of the Getters also from Fewture line. Obviously Fewture Getters are of different design approach compared to those released by Bandai,Aoshima and Sentinel.. that leans more on the classic look.
It still depends on your preference ofcourse.. if this things does not matter to you.

What's the opinion on the final battle Fewture Getter? It's the one with battle damage parts. Is it a repaint as well? the damage parts are parts from the final episode of the anime, they are made of plastic and unlike the metal parts they hold on the figure perfectly it can be sold separately for both Black Getter and Getter 1 here is some photos for Getter 1 repaint with the Damage parts bad ass! To be clear, I am finding a fewture Getter that appears to be the regular figure with the final battle parts included. Is that correct that they did a release like that? Or is it better to get repaint and the parts separately?

If I remeber right, this one is Getter 1, from Aoshima. It comes with 2 massive guns. The one at the bottom, Black Getter, as you can see come from the same mold. Or is it better to get repaint and the parts separately? There are four versions of Fewture's Getter 1 : 1) Original release; with white limbs and orange "shorts". 2) Repaint; with bluish white limbs and yellow "shorts". 3) Black Getter changing set; black repaint of the Getter 1 with parts to change it into the Black Getter. 4) Final Battle set; Some say it's a repaint, but I've never seen comparison pics (side-by-side on the same shot) and it looks a lot like the first release. Comes bundled with the damage parts. Only the 4th release came bundled with the damage parts, but Fewture released an optional accessory set for each version - so be sure to get the right one. If you want the damage parts, the Final Battle set - the most recent release - is probably going to be the most affordable option.

I checked out pics of the versions and the final battle version has elements of the original and repaint but is also different (specifically the arm band colors - lighter gray instead of black). I agree with your thoughts though and am going for the Final Battle version. Actarus, the Aoshima version is great. I need to check out more of their builds. For the GX-06 SOC Getter, can it stand by itself or does it need a stand? I ask because I prefer no stand.

SOC GX06 can stand on its own. But Getter 2 has very small feet so it can get knocked down very easy. So the stand locks it in place for long term display. Getter 1 is like your standard Mazinger, while Getter 3 will have a hard to fall even if you try to knock it down LOL.

Or is it better to get repaint and the parts separately? they did release Getter 1 with Damage parts set included but it have white paint instead of sky blue in the repaint and orange shorts instead of yellow for me i didnt get the first release and i went with the 2nd repaint because the colors were more accurate, then i got a separate damage parts set (the damage parts set comes in 3 colors for Getter 1 first release, Getter 1 repaint and for Black Getter) if you can find the Getter 1 with the damage parts set included for a good price go for it

The price of the originals are so high now. In my opinion the repaint is fine because of the better price tag.

If you ignore the usual bloated price Ebay listings and Italian sellers - because with their shady customs and postal system Italians tend to pay considerably more for locally available items - they don't go for much more than the other versions. With a quick search on Ebay for sold listings, I found one from a Canadian seller that sold for US$375 + $30 shipping (within Canada) last December. Listed as new; box is open, but said to have never been put on display.
Angolz still has all three accessory packs listed as "in stock" for US$100 + shipping. Though with them you're never sure if it's real or just an inventory error until you place your order (or ask them). But I did get an original color set from them earlier last year, so maybe they do have all three in stock.
It's not as readily available as the Final Battle set, but with some patience the complete original color set is not much more expensive.

I agree with your thoughts though and am going for the Final Battle version. The original version has grey "arm bands" (the gear on the upper arm) as well. They seem to be the same color, or nearly identical, but the Final Battle version does seem to be missing the black "paint wash" on the gears that the first two versions had. The black version (Black Getter changing set) doesn't have them either.

I'm seriously considering pulling the trigger on the fewture final battle Getter, but I'm concerned about durability. A pinned post here recommends preventive maintenance, some of which seems extreme. If I buy this and do nothing "preventative" will it last as a display piece? Or do I need to worry about rubber and plastic part issues years down the road?
Also, do SOC and SRC hold up? How do they compare for durability with fewture?

I don't doubt I'll love it. Just that I have been telling myself I don't need more Getters unless they are very different from what I already have. But the upcoming Sentinel Shin Getter 1 and my recent orders on the 4 inch nel Getter Pilots made me reconsider if I should revisit these. And so happen your post came up with the sale price on it, guess its time to pull the trigger to own at least one. I picked Getter 1 over Black Getter (already has a Aoshima Black Getter).
