I said I was only going to get Maz, Great Maz, and Grendizer, however I am now looking at Getter Robo and Black Getter as well. They just have a striking design, unique. For Black Getter it seems like the Sentinal version is best. For Getter Robo, which is preferred, SOC GX-06, GX-52, or SRC Getter? Looking at design, quality/durability, and articulation.

As for the Getter, the now discontinued Aoshima were among the best ever made.
Heavy, sturdy, nice paint job.
It was limited in articulation but came with full of accessories.

GX-06 & GX-52 are different Getters. GX-06 is the classic. I would go with GX-06..

Don't have gx-06, but take your pick... What is the Ova one on the far left? So those shoulder pieces come off? I like the design of the figure (pointy ears!) but would want to display without the shoulder pads.

With the wings and the scythe? That's Shin Getter (1); Super Robot Chogokin Shin Getter Robo. The "pads" don't come off.

Oh man, asking best Getter is going to be much harder and much more subjective than your other ones. There are so many variants and it's all a matter of taste. Honestly, unless there is something very very specific you are looking for in a Getter 1, you might be better off just going with the new GX-74 when it comes out, or getting a fairly low cost SRC. I don't know that there is a "best" or "perfect" Getter. Just one that a given Collector will like more than others, which will vary from Collector to Collector.

But if you're set on getting Sentinel's Black Getter, the obvious answer would be to go for their Getter 1 as well.

The SOCs would be my pick, because I always see Getter as a team, a set of three. Both the GX-06 and GX 18,19,20 offers that, with the Getter G having a slightly more interesting sculpt comparing the original (even though I like the original more as a character). And it has some of those magnets & joints system that let you do the in-progress combination combo. Other figures or gokins only focused on Getter 1 alone. So the SOC sets offer the more complete experience and representation of the Getter Team.
As an alternative, the Fewture Getter Dragon/Liger/Poseidon set is the coolest looking Getter you'll find for a long while.

Wow, the fewture Getter is insane! Wasn't too into their mazingers but this is amazing! Despite the price it's tempting. Here are my thoughts after looking at pics. I'm not sure about the big body. I lean toward the slimmer builds as far as aesthetic. I'm looking at them without capes or cowls, which I prefer - pure robot I will pass on SRC Getter ($85 new). Big body, least impressive. The sentinel Getter 1 and black Getter (each $100)- awesome joints and articulation, killer head sculpt, but not so into big body. I also read that's it's fragile from various reviews. Th GX-52 is another big body - not bad though. ($200) The GX-06 has that classic robot look - sleek, minimalist look, with stark features. I love the head sculpt. $200 used. The GX- 74 is similar and it's top on my list. I assume I could preorder for $150 or so. Final question - to fewture or not to fewture. I looked at both the black Getter and the Getter robo and they both rock. The Getter robo is my favorite. The black Getter is also bad ass and can be converted into a black version of the Getter robo. If I get the GX 74 for my Getter Robo, do I get the black fewture one or just forget black and get another Getter Robo with Fewture. The fewture Getter robo with the red and white is stunning. The fewture black has less of that contrast. Hard to decide. ($500 each)

In terms of fiction, the Black Getter is not part of the original 70s show. So a black GX-74 is only a black paint variant of a toy, but doesn't represent an actual robot in a show. The Black Getter however is from Shin Getter Robo anime from the late 90s. If that makes any difference for you. I would go for the red & white original look if I were you.

I edited my post as I see it was confusing. I am thinking of getting a Getter robo and a black Getter. If I get the GX 74 for the Getter robo and I get a fewture Getter, I need to decide if I get the black or just get two robo Getters. Damn that's a tongue twister 😜

Nothing like the Fewture Getters. Those are works of art. I could get rid of my collection and just keep those.
As for the future of Getter.... Bandai made a SRC Mazinkaiser and a plastic model first to test the market and apparently they did good which lead to the upcoming SOC Mazinkaiser.
They also released a SRC and palstic model of Shin Getter last year so I am hoping they do a SOC Shin Getter after Kaiser. If that sells well and knowing Bandai, we might actually get a SOC Shin Getter 2 and 3 down the line. It looks like Shin 3 might become a reality if this pans out as expected. Keeping my fingers crossed and willing to pay any insane amount for it!
Super robot collectors and Getter fans know that shin 3 is the holy grail of toys. That toy that everyone wants but nobody makes

What's the opinion on the final battle Fewture Getter? It's the one with battle damage parts. Is it a repaint as well?

Is it a repaint as well? the damage parts are parts from the final episode of the anime, they are made of plastic and unlike the metal parts they hold on the figure perfectly it can be sold separately for both Black Getter and Getter 1 here is some photos for Getter 1 repaint with the Damage parts
