I bought a new in box Ex Gokin Getter Dragon off of ebay from seller esthertool. The package came all the way from HK very well packed, and everything seemed perfect until I opened the box and found that some of the foam that should keep his torso from moving had become displaced allowing his upper body to move within the package. The result is that there is a scratch/paint rub along the edge of his left shoulder pad, and a couple more minor marks on his right shoulder pad. I don't think this had anything to do with how the seller handled the item, but rather just bad luck that some protective foam moved around in the sealed package. So, what to do? Is this par for the course with this type of good, and I should just accept it? Should I pursue a replacement or refund, hoping for a more perfect sample next time? Repair the paint flaws? How does our community feel about this? What would you do?

How bad is it? Can it be cure? Did you pay premium for it or did you get a deal?
If you can't notice it, keep it like this. If it can be cure, try it a bit not to damage it more, and live with it. Can you display it without seeing it, if so live with it. If you really can't stand to see it, you can try to send it back for refund, or at least get partial refund, but since the seller my not be aware about the issue, good luck.
By the way Fewture used to make really bad paint job, especially first run.

Was the damage pictures in the auction?
Was the toy sealed? If so, is it factory damage?
It's a tough call to say if it's the seller's fault from packing improperly (if it was an open box, it sounds like it may have been put away incorrectly) or it just moved around in the tray during shipping (this does happen sometimes).

If it is cosmetic flaws, I usually just keep it. Have been collecting these long enough to know that the 'perfect specimen' is something I am often not lucky enough to have. Especially when these are not jewelry (even though we sometimes treat them as one ). I try to think for the seller, as long as it is obvious not their fault. And shipping these things back & forth just doesn't worth the trouble, when most of the time I need to pay for return shipping (its like US$30-40 on that Fewture). But if it is broken, then I'll ask for an exchange. But that is just me.

Out of all the Getter Dragon's this is the one, Getter Emperor bestowed to you. It's a little battle damaged, but he trusts you will treat the Dragon well. It is your Dragon, you're the only one in the world with a Battle Damaged Getter Dragon
Thats what I said to myself after I f*cked up my Combattler by accident.

This is why I've been staying away from fewture bots. I'd lose my crap if I spent 550 on a figure and it showed up w bad paint. I've read other horror stories about fewtures paint jobs.

I would honestly keep it. It's sealed in the box, it got to you that way, and as long as nothing's majorly wrong with it you still have a great toy in your collection.
That's kind of the paradox with big ticket items like Fewture, especially with lots of diecast and an obviously large toy: there's a lot of tiny things that can go wrong with it, imperfections that you'll have to just live with. Of course if it's something major like broken joints or a flawed design I wouldn't bother, or definitely push for an exchange/refund, but if it's just tiny scratches like that, it's nothing in the grand scheme of things, at least in my opinion.

That always suck. But As long as its not broken or its missing parts, id keep it. Its Fewture and its factory's managements fault for rushing its workers....

That's awful issues like that keep me away from Fewture and a lot of older gokins. Ever since my supposedly-mint Konami Gurren Lagann came with a bunch of factory glue spots I only buy newer stuff from companies that will make good on QC issues.
