Not gonna lie. I like Action Toys' take a lot more, more true to the originals, but updated. Just that that line never seems to take off that well. I still waiting for my Blue Jet to be released. These Bandai's, look a bit 'off'...

Mchi youre lot nicer then i am... There're so~ many talented Character designers. Why can't they use them?
Whoever designed these robots needs to go back school and let pros do it, smh. These updates can't hold candle to the original. (And NO its NOT nostalgia talking!)

Why would Bandai need to acquire the license if Machine Robo are their designs and their line...? Looking forward to this!

Wonder how they'll market these? The style seems too radical to be appreciated by older fans, unless there's a new Anime aimed at the young'uns to back this up, it's going to be a hard sell.

Yeah. The whole Gobots/Machine Robo is about nostalgia of the old toyline. If talking about new radical designs, there are a lot of options without the need to tie-in with this license. Or just get some weird looking cheap TFs or go with the new Diaclone line. Quite likely this line will flop, if the rest are following this trend.

Yeah, Bandai didn't "Acquire the License", Bandai has always outright owned the complete IP. It's their's they invented it. It came from their old Popy subsidiary. Action Toys while making great figures is acting on a somewhat shaky license granted by a Chinese TV Broadcaster who is sub licensing the branding because he has the broadcast rights in a part of China. The most remarkable thing about this is that a Chinese Robot manufacturer actually bothered to get some form of a license from anybody. Legit or not they made an effort, which is such an unusual event so as to get noticed.

Seems Tamashii crew let enough time passed to see how Sentinel came with famous licences with modern take and also new engineering. SOC FA and Mazinger Z Metal buils are the first "strike" imo... Let's see how this new Machine Robo reboot is coming with fresh ideas. Aside, Action Toys got their own and original take too : I like it a lot. I hade time to shoot and fiddle with the next wave and prototype during TFCON this year. I really can't wait ... Tamashii, it's up to you now.

Yeah I agree. Cykill just looks over done. What’s up with those arms. And what's up with those legs Oh the legs. I just looked at arms and I was done. Reminds me something Hasbro would do with movie transformers. I don’t want to see cycle mode would look like. 😂

Planets are aligned : IDW Celebrates the 35th Anniversary of Classic Toy Line with a Sci-Fi Epic Written and Drawn by Tom Scioli
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 20, 2018) – IDW Publishing is proud to announce that Tom Scioli, the visionary creator that brought you Transformers vs. G.I. Joe, will unleash his imagination on the wonderful world of Go-Bots! Launching in October, Go-Bots will be the first story to feature classic toy and cartoon characters like Leader-1, Scooter, Turbo, and Cy-Kill’s Renegades in over three decades!
In the new five-issue series, the existence of Go-Bots on Earth has changed humans’ way of life. They chauffeur us around. They protect us from harm. They do the jobs that are too boring or dangerous for us. They fight our wars for us. They are friends for the lonely. The only thing they don’t do is dream for us… but that could change any day now. For a generation, Leader-1 and the Guardians have said that they were here to help us… but as they become more integrated into our society, the question must be asked: Are they here to replace us?
“This is a dream project – I’m writing, drawing, coloring, and hand-lettering this book. It’s a labor of love,” says Scioli. “When these characters were conceived of in the ’80s, the idea of robots with human personalities was science fiction. Now, it’s history. The world of living machines is here – we’re living it. The time is right for Go-Bots!”
“Avant-garde creator Tom Scioli has been pushing the comic book storytelling medium for nearly two decades now and his work on Go-Bots is yet another watershed moment in his career,” says IDW Associate Publisher David Hedgecock. “It is a testament to the strong collaboration between IDW Publishing and Hasbro, that projects like this can exist on licensed properties.”Source: www.newsarama.com/40980-tom-scioli-idw-bring-go-bots-back-in-new-series.html
