Hey Everyone,
Hoping this topic wasn’t broached elsewhere and I missed it.
I’m a relatively new SOC collector and wanted to ask whether there’s any big risks to displaying SOCs (or particular SOCs) combined on the shelf. I’m not so much thinking about dust/light/heat - more whether they hold up well from an engineering perspective (e.g., do you think it can really wear down joints/parts from the combined weight? Do you ever rotate your displays to help with that?
In my case, have a Golion, GaoGaiGar, Megazord, Godsigma, Gunbuster and Daltanious all combined and chilling out on the shelf...
Thanks!

In general, they are fine left combined. Some of mine have been combined and displayed for like a decade, and they are fine still. Some folks did have a cracked shoulder hinge on Ideon, but not sure if that is just plastic aging. Mine is still in good shape. Though if it is a spring loaded gimmick, like Mazinger's rocket punch, I would not leave the spring compressed for years, it may lose it elasticity.

Most are good.At least in a neutral A pose. They really are designed well so there is very little stress in the basic combined form. There are a few with known flaws over time. Ideon has a problem in the shoulder joints. It has a metal joint pin going through an undersized plastic bushing. The bushing Will eventually split. But it doesn't matter which state it is in. Battle Robo J has a soft rubber neck that will eventually decay. The only other concern might be the robots with telescoping legs, such as GX-04 Grendizer, Ideon and Gunbuster. The legs could possibly develop a tendency to compress over time. But I haven't seen it happen on mine yet.

it depend on the robot design over all and how you pose them
but to keep it short most are very durable and will last longer than you think

They better do! Considering the money we have to fork out to acquire them! On a more serious note, they actually do. All my combiners, God Mars, Godsigma, Daltanius, Daioja and Gun Buster are all holding up pretty well. But also take note that i left them in regular poses e.g. holding their weapons and shields. Nothing too fancy nor dramatic.
