Have you ordered an item from Mandarake that cost over $2500 and get charged by custom taxes when it arrives in US?

Haha, $2500...
No. I'm in CA. Been buying there a lot, no custom tax, but no where near that price range. The highest amount I have reached with a single shipment is around US$600-700 with a few items in it.

If it makes you feel any better, here in Canada we are mostly slap with taxes when we buy stuff from the globe.

Anything above $800, prepare to pay extra. You can roll the dice with EMS for anything over that price.

I thought for toys there are no import taxes? I know that with DHL if the value of the item is over $1,000 you'll have to pay tax.

How much percent do you pay? That’s the funny part. It varies LOL. Depending on the person who calculated it before sending you the customs invoice, it could be 2% and up. The last watch I bought about 8 months ago from Germany was an Omega Seamaster Pro. I got charged roughly 6% of the watch price based on the paperwork the watch dealer sent. The 6% included brokerage fees, customs fees and Fed tax. —- - Customs Fee: You will have to pay a customs fee, the rate is determined by the value of your watch. Generally, this can range between 2-5%. We provide each shipment to the US with a watch worksheet which details all the necessary specifications required for the customs office. The final value is then decided based on this by the customs agent. - Federal State Tax: A Federal State Tax is determined by a Tax ID or Social Security Number; therefore, it’s important that a telephone number and email address is provided with the order so that the local customs agency can reach out to you to collect this information.

Gotta love taxes... you're taxed for earning the money and then taxed again for spending it. I don't think there should be sales tax to that end.

I had a Jumbo Machinder ship from Japan via DHL that was close to $2000 and luckily I didn't have to pay tax. (Live in Los Angeles.) Maybe I lucked out?

Getting back to this topic. I wasn’t charged custom tax by customs thankfully.
