Got my hands on the Carbotix Getter 1, to see if I should proceed with getting the upcoming Black Getter as well. The answer is a very big YES. For those that never got the Carbotix Getter 1, here is my impression. Now that I have it in hand, this is bar-none the best looking and most accurate OVA Getter 1 action figure out there. Proportions look really nice in pretty much any angle, and the paint is pretty much flawless with a very nice shiny finish on both plastic and diecast parts (to a point you have a hard time telling one from the other). 5PRO purposely avoid having any conventional cuts around joints to give it a really clean look, and they smartly used spring-loaded dark red ring at the elbow and the knee to let the joints have a little bit more additional range on top of the main elbow/knee joint, giving around 90 degree bend on both. Elbows, hips (both directions), and knees are ratchets, and they all have that very satisfying metal 'ting' sound on every click (assume they are all spring-loaded). Though one small flaw is that the knee ratchets are not as strong as they should. And because most of the diecast are on the lower leg and feet, this makes the knees bend on its own quite often when handling the figure, clicking on its own. It has no stability issues when standing or posing, but a stronger knee ratchet would make it feel sturdier. Also, probably due to it being an earlier release from the Carbotix line (2019), some of the inner structure are less refined and not as solid as you would expect from better SOCs or Metal Build releases. As I open the back plate of the back to insert the cape, I noticed one of the 2 hoops that go in fits too tight, while the other is on the loose side. Then the battery fell off, and also the 2 gold round shoulder thingy also fell off in the process. They all fit together once I close everything up, but those few pieces are not that secure without the backplate. Also, the belly Getter Beam hatch doesn't fully open or close by the back button, unless you help it with your finger nudge the hatch in the front belly. So stuff like these shows some inexperience in handling the mechanical gimmicks. Another highlight is the cape. I read that some people didn't like it because it uses a more plasticy nylon type fabric instead of soft cloth. But I find this material actually works a lot better due to its rigidity, able to recreate very realistic and complex angular folds like you would expect to see from the anime. You can see a little bit of that when compare to the more cloth-like fabric cape of the Riobot next to it (even on the much bigger softer cloth cape on Riobot Devolution Getter, you don't get those nice sharp angular folds). Though as awesome as the cape is, 5PRO made the wires inside a tad bit too long, as a couple of them has its end poking out of the sewing slots about a quarter to half an inch after you do some dynamic bending and cape posing. The LEDs are nice and bright, but there is too much light bleeding around the helmet seams and gaps on the neck. The button on the back also wiggles a little. Again, another small issue due to inexperience. Small issues aside, figure looks great, has some heft (around 550g or so, diecast in speedo, lower legs and feet), and balance well. Aside the knees slightly too weak, the other joints are tight and feels nice with good ankle pivots. For a figure that has no joint cuts, it poses quite well as long as you are not going for something extreme (leave that job for the Riobots). This is such a good looking Getter 1, with that perfect face sculpt. Seeing how good this is (a solid 8.5/10), I can't imagine not getting the upcoming Black Getter that is going to be quite a bit cheaper (at US$225 or below), with more diecast, and joint improvements/re-enforcement. It would be a no-brainer purchase, unless you really don't like Black Getter. Not to mention they both look and scale great with Fewtures and CCSToys, with the Carbotix just half a head shorter, which fit in nicely as the more primitive Getters a tad smaller than their upgrades. Now, it is just the matter of where I can find the best deal on the Black Getter, and I don't need the Sky X Studio Getter 1 anymore, regardless its size and quality. The Carbotix are better in my book. A real gem with a few small issues. Me and my collector buddy used to call this Carbotix line "Jewelry in Robot Form" due to how nice the Astroganger paintjob was. This Getter 1 sure lives up to that name.

Thank you for the very detailed review! All valid. After displaying without removing the battery for around 4 years…the left chest LED is failing on mine.(I have to fiddle with the contact on the wire box to get it to work long enough for a photo or two..) But I still love mine.
I preoed Carbotix Black Getter from eKnight. $217 with free shipping (tax not included…)
BUT it has Non refundable deposit of $25.

Got the Black Getter today, and due to the high anticipation I have on this guy, I opened it right away, instead of let it sitting in storage for a good few weeks/months/years LOL. But it pains to say this, but this Black Getter is not as good as I hoped for...sigh. It is still very good, but there are things that were an issue on their red Getter 1, they didn't get fixed on the Black Getter, while the Black Getter introduces new issues due to their changes and updates. I'll list them below, so you get the full scope. - Black Getter was not meant to be displayed without the scarf. Not a major issue, but as you can see here, there are a few big tabs sticking out for securing the PVC scarf around the neck. Initially, the scarf will be a hard fit as the holes on the bottom of the scarf are not far enough to reach all the tabs. Get a hair dryer and warm up the scarf a bit, so it gets soft and more squishy. Now you can stretch the scarf a bit to make the fitment much easier. - Black Getter's new knee pad causes the spring-loaded knee ring to sit slanted instead of straight like the red Getter 1, and unintentionally exposed the knee joint on the rear. This design/assembly issue kind of defeated their intent of their 'seamless joint aesthetics'. If the knee pad was tilt up more when its glued, this problem can likely be avoided. But since both knees are like that, it was either a design flaw, or the knee pads were assembled wrong in batches. Not likely a random incident on just my copy. Watched a couple video reviews, same issue on the knee as mine. - Red Getter 1 has the best wired cape I came across in a gokin, and there are 4 pieces of wires (one on each left & right edge, and 2 spaced out in the middle) that let it have extremely expressive folds and posing just like in the anime. Blitzway/5Pro thought they improved it by giving it thinner wires, however, they got rid of the 2 middle wires! Now having just the 2 edge wires, and thinner, it cannot support any dynamic folds, nor the cape's own weight. It also came with a bunch of straight pleads because of how it is folded in the box. So the cape is a straight downgrade, and a VERY disappointing one for me. - Not sure if you can tell from the photos, but the silver used in the upper body is a lighter silver, while the legs got a slightly darker gunmetal silver. It looks good in photos (both in promo photos and photos from collectors, mine included), but the upper body silver is a bit too light seeing it in person, making the belly and upper arms a bit too bright. I feel that the belly and upper arm should have the gunmetal silver from the legs instead (which is only a little darker), and the legs should use an even darker gunmetal silver. Compares to the really nice dark silver from CCSToys Black Shin Getter 1, the silvers used here are quite a bit lighter. - Joints are tighter pretty much in all aspect from what the red Getter 1 has. However, they didn't fix the ratchet wobbles in those joints. They are not as bad as the Bandai MB Shin Getter 1's hip with just a little movement at the ratchets. But I wish they had learned from Getter 1 and fix the wobble on the hip and knees, but they didn't. Ratchets are also not that consistent in terms of tightness. Red Getter 1 has overall softer ratchets. They don't take a lot of effort to move/click. Black Getter improved on the tightness as they click louder with more resistance on each click, which is nice. But a couple of the leg joints and hip clicks differently, with one side a bit tighter with louder clicks than the other side. Not very consistent. - They also introduced a new issue with a loose belt (the gold waist band). It wiggles around with a touch of your finger, when the belt on the red Getter 1 is solid and doesn't move unless you intend to when posing the waist. This one just wiggles and shakes around very loosely... - Getter Beam belly button cover still not implemented well this second time. Getter 1 has this problem when activating the Getter Beam and opening that cover by pressing the button on Getter's back, you still have to help the cover to go back into place, as it kind of get stuck and only close halfway. Sometimes when you pose the waist, it moves out of place and cause some gaps (see closeup photo below), which you have to 'help' it with your finger to nudge it back in place. Same exact issue is still there on this Black Getter. But while I am disappointed by the issues above, they are not major things and can somewhat overlooked. One really neat feature is their eye design. They sculpted the eyes in a way with a parallax effect, it looks like Black Getter is staring at you/your camera even when you are at different angle. This feature sometimes don't lend itself as well in person in some lighting situation, and the inner forehead can cast shadows onto the clear eyes so the pupil inside can be hard to see sometimes. But when it works, it is very awesome! And the red Getter 1 figure itself was already very well made, regardless the smaller issues I may have pointed out. So Black Getter inheriting all that with joints upgrade already made it a very solid release. It also gain some heft from the red Getter 1 (around 560g) to around 630g. Just that the fanboy in me knowing how good the red Getter 1 was, was expecting this Black Getter to be much better with a lot of the small issues fixed. Instead, we get some improvements, but we also lose some good stuff as trade-off. In the end, it still look badass with the best Black Getter sculpt in the market IMHO, and a solid 8.5/10 of a figure. I just wish it was a 9.5 or even a 10.

I'm not usually a fan of pupils on Getters, but they sculpted them so perfectly here and really bring the mecha and it's intimidating aura to life. If I was in the market for an anime Black Getter I can't imagine it looking better then this.

Wonder if there are any comparisons between the Blitzway and the sky studio variants? That would be interesting

Curious does this thing with a Batteries bundled with it mostly curious where the placement is? You open up the upper back panel (same when you try to put the fabric cape on) and there is a single slot for a flat CR1220 battery (if I remember correctly, size of a dime) at the center, between the 2 shoulder joint, right below the neck. You should see it in some of the video reviews. Battery doesn't come with the figure though.

The review was funny. The guy says: "Both are cool... but both suck"...lol. Love the comparison of SkyX's face to that funky looking Kamen Rider with the SD goggle eyes. So spot on.

I admit that face looked funky but the weight and the details still make me like the skyx more. Robots require weight that if flung can do some serious damage... lol
