OK, bare with me, Y'all. Since I've never seen any, but one, of the SOCs, besides the pictures, how do their sizes compare? For example, how tall was the SOC Combattler compared to the GoDaiKin Combattra of 12, or so, inches? I bought the Daiku Maryu Gaiking set, with the Blue Dragon Carrier, and Gaiking was teenie-weenie. Are all the SOCs this small, or was this just to be in scale with the Carrier? How tall was Dancougar? Or the girls? (which I never could get. ) Thanks, Michael

SOC's are pretty decent in size, Combattler is about 91/2 inches, Dancougar is the biggest at around 15 inches with his booster pack on. But most of them including the Mazingers, Getter Robo's, Eva's, and Grendizer are between 7-8 inches tall. The tiny Gaiking you got was just because the main toy was DaikuMaryu, Gaiking is sorta like an acessorie to Daiku Maryu. Hopefully Bandai will make a 8 inche Gaiking down the road, but nothing has come up yet. By the way the upcoming Zanbot 3 is going tobe around 10 inches so he's a pretty good sized toy.

I would like to see side by side pictures of the GX, and classic Popy (or Godaikin) Combattlers. I'd like to see side by side shots of the new and old versions of the Daikumaryu too. Anyone out there got both? It's odd. Daikumarkyu and Combattler are two of my favorite Popy toys , but I don't have the Jones for the GX versions of either. That T-28, on the other hand....(light-up eyes, with a remote control!!!)... No,not me. My resolve will hold. I won't give in. JWM

HAHA! thats sorta hilarious.. your first experience with the SOC and you get the wee Gaiking!
I understand your bafflement. These guys are a great size for display. Getter Dragon stands at 7.5 inches and Getter 1 stands at 6.75 inches.
The new Zambot 3 looks like its gonna be a biggie.
hope that helps clear things up a touch.

Thanks much, Josh! I like the dragon, but the new Combattler kind of leaves me cold. This could lead to a whole new set of rationalizations: If I don't buy the Combattler, then that's the same as having a couple of hundred extra bucks to spend. And if I have all that extra money sitting around, then I can loosen the stainless steel resolve just enough to let that T-28 slip in under the radar. (remote control light-up eyes!!) And if I go ahead and get the T-28..... JWM

Hi jwm I kinda don't agree with you about the combattler!! .. if you put it togather with your own hands and start looking at it ... it is amazing ... I think so far that is the pretiest chogokin!! ... it match a lot the anime!! and it is really good posable!! two thumbs up for this! ;D

Thanks, you guys. Sorry I haven't replied in awhile, to tell you. I've decided to get the Combattler V. I've gotten all the Girls and the Angels. The EVAs. The Dancouga and Zambot. Really nice stuff. Glad I didn't let Gaiking sway me. "Wee" is right. I didn't like the Tetsujin 28. I was hoping it would be more like the GoDaiKin Tetsujin. Less cartoony. Also, JoshB's shots didn't show on my end. Just boxes with Xs. Is that my browser messing up? Thanks, Michael

The old Combattler definately looks like it should win the gimmick and fun factor, but the design factor is awarded to GX-03.So if it were up to me, GX-03 wins all the designs and the Godaikin/Popy version wins play factor.Anyway both toys do have their advantages in different fields,so I'd probably put them on the equal scale.

Thanks for the pics Josh. I don't really play with my toys so I'm more a fan of anime accuracy and looks good on my display case and not really the gimmicks... The old combattler was obviously designed to be played with by kids while the SOC version was designed for the look but no touch older crowd, which I'm in.
