news from zinc panic: Here's an interesting tidbit: The first set of 10 Doraemon secret gadget capsules arrives in September for ¥1,575. The word is, this (and future) sets are meant for an upcoming Chogokin branded update of the original Gatcha Gatcha Doraemon. Even more interesting, the new Doraemon may be put into the SOC lineup, arriving in September before Voltes. Price is estimated at $50. I have found this

Wait ...what? So the capsules will contain stuff to simulate Doremon's "magic pocket?" But there won't be an actual Doremon figure until later? Hmm... guess that means we should start buying the capsule stuff first so that we'll have a complete set when the SoC figure comes out? Well... okay... he's a robot... erm... "super" is up to interpretation.

This has to be for the Japanese market because whilst Doraemon is huge in Asia, I can't see parents outside of Japan buying expensive diecast Doraemon toys. Yeah, he's a robot cat but he's too cutesy

Seriously, he's a robot cat?
All the snack treats I have bought over the years never told me that.

Hmm, so an early release on Doraemon's birthday, september 3rd, 14 cm tall, diecast body, magnetic hands, comes with 10 capsules with a diameter of 25 mm, comes with more than 10 secret tools, pull the tail to make the capsules fly out of the stomach.

Looks to me like the actual(prototype) product. They also compare the product to the old popy version, which is nearly all die-cast. And I believe on this version, maybe the only die-cast content is the main body(Not the head, unlike the original Popy version I believe) as the diagram points out.

According to the auction text - this baby is vintage... the price is alright it if the photos really show the actual item being sold (it sure looks damn minty-fresh!). One would only hope that this reissue will not be so much tho!
