Josh great Article... but one question.. why don't you think Danguard will be made? leiji matsumoto has supposedly disowned Danguard, and wont allow anything to be done with the license... maybe when he dies? Oh, and for the other SOC's not on CollectionDX... I don't collect R versions, so you wont see those unless someone wants to contribute them. I still have many more SOC reviews to do, i'm just spacing them out. Keep an eye out for GX-06 and GX-05 soon.... Josh

oh weird.. was there any comments why?? Kind of strange that anyone would not want to liscence out anything.. unless.. he was planning to create his own DANGUARD line of toys. but I doubt that possible.

My 2 came from HLJ. Opened the first and it had a chip on the skull right above the right tooth. Was pretty disappointing. Opened the second and it had some minor issues but nothing as bad as the chip. Had lots of dust under the paint and such with my Daikuumaryuu too- maybe there's some kind of curse affiliated with Gaiking....... Got mine from HLJ today. My Gaiking doesn't have a chip on its face, yet, it has a couple of scratch marks on the lower left arm (Power-Up mode). It also has a dent on the shiny right thigh. Well, I'm not as lucky as you who can afford two Gaikings. I found the wing is bit small too (maybe that is its true size in the carton). Overall I guess I am satisfied with it. It looks cool standing beside the GX-01&02R

I think I'll like it in the end, but I can tell already that there's no way I'll like it as much as some of the other standard size SOCs, like the Getter set, GX-01R, GX-02R, Poseidon, etc. It really doesn't feel that stable. The feet can go flat on the ground much better than those of the little gaiking, but I feel like the problem here is in the ankles- they seem to go whichever way the weight happens to be. This is a problem I have on my gx-02r too, but only because I was posing the heck out of that thing for a long time. Of course, with the gx-02r the issue is more leaning back than leaning forward. Light really shines right through the wing, too.
Of course, it has good points too. It's plenty heavy, and the combination of parts 1, 2 and 3 has a much nicer feel to it than I had been expecting. I haven't tried the powered up mode yet, and I'm sure I'll like the face open gimmick. I kinda wish Bandai would have sold normal gaiking and powered up gaiking separately, so powered up gaiking could be more stable and so it would be cheaper to display both at once.

Got a reply from HLJ- told me that my item is not defective because it passed quality control. Ridiculous. I can accept them telling me that they won't take it back, but telling me my item is not defective when it so obviously is pisses me off. What's worse is that then I get this garbage.
"As this item is not defective, we can authorize its return if it is in saleable (like new, not removed from the box, with all pieces and papers intact) condition, sent back at your own expense, for a refund of its 8800-yen cost of merchandise only. If you would like to do that, please let us know and we'll send instructions for an authorized return. We appreciate your understanding, and your business with us."
Excuse me, I told you in my mail that the SOC is chipped. How do you think I knew, x-ray vision!?

Once you guys fool around with it you'll end up loving him. I felt the same way when I first received Gaiking, you start to worry about the legs and stuff but after awhile you just end up forgetting about it.

DVST8> nothing like that has been announced. There haven't been any black versions in quite a while now, but a black gaiking would surely look cool.
I started fooling around some more with my Gaiking. Man, I really like those drills! I wish they could spin like Getter 2's drill, but they're still cool, if kinda puny compared to the drills that the Gaiking that comes with the Daikuumaryuu can equip, relatively. Still having some trouble finding a good way to display the gaiking for now- eventually it'll go on a shelf that doesn't get too much light and look cool when you come and look at it up close, but since it's brand new, I'd like to really show it off for now. The problem is that it's hard to find lighting that shows off the skull and the chrome nicely at the same time. Oh, also has to not shine right through the wing on the back.
That back shredder gimmick is pretty cool isn't it! I love that they came up with such a bizarre gimmick for such an insignificant weapon.

Well I got my gx-27 today and I love it! Bandai needs to continue with the quality that Gaiking has, it is awesome. Lots of diecast and I do agree with some of you about the legs which is why he is on display in "buffed" mode. I love this hobby!

I got mine yesterday. There's a guy near my house who just opened a small collectible toy shop: Barbie, Hot Wheels, some Mcfarlane (yuk), and other miscellaneous stuff. I got a 1/25 scale Hot Wheels Beatnik Bandit from him last week. He had never seen a Japanese robot toy. Today I brought the GX-27 over and showed it to him. God, I felt like the dope pusher in one of those old health ed films,"C'mon kid try it. It's free the first time..." Now he wants a Gai King. Bad. I'm sure you all can relate. It was a real gas to show a robot to somebody who didn't just kind of roll their eyes and say, "nice." JWM

Cool, jwm. I haven't gotten that most appreciated of reactions very often. Most recently, my dad was really impressed by the SOP Yamato. Now that I think about it, he liked Kaneda's bike a lot too. It's just the robots that don't get the good reaction (only about 99.7% of my collection). My mom likes the SOF-V mobile suits.

Attaching the head to the skull can be a bit of a pain. Once you've got it attached there's no way it'll just fall off. I haven't tried firing the arms in normal gaiking mode. They don't go that far in power up mode, but I imagine they'd go much farther in normal mode.
